Had an occasion to be in Huntington WV today,

Enjoy,

I wish it made me feel more sure. I mean I do believe it is Lavalette. But none of the freqs match any license for Lavalette. That's why it is in the DB as ? Lavalette ?. Certainly, if you were to look at all of the surrounding peers of Site 38, Lavalette does indeed fall right in the middle of them all, AND there is no other site (FCC licensed) that it would be in that vicinity. I just wonder why they aren't using any of the FCC-licensed freqs. And without being able to match it up with an FCC license, the only way I could be more convinced is if somebody was at the Lavalette tower with the antenna off and copying the site just fine LOL.

Like I said, I do think it is Lavalette. but it's the issue with none of the freqs active on the site being on the FCc license. That just irritates the hell outta me :)

Transmitting with no license...Pirate Radio :)
HE

Exactly what irritates me. AEP is so good (99%) on licensing. This one case that I can think of is keeping them from getting my 100% ranking. Heck, back when AEP had licenses with dozens of freqs on them that we know we never all used, they have been going through and filing applications to have all of those extraneous frequencies removed. New sites (that are only part of the P25 system but were never part of the EDACS system) had filings with maybe 8 freqs. And in so many cases, since those sites have come online and they have determined they don't need all the freqs, they have filed additional applications to remove extraneous freqs on those. They do a great job. I just want to see this site documented somewhere!

Who knows -- maybe they have not actually been able to bring Lavalette online for some reason, and maybe this is a "temporary" site that they put up nearby somewhere to provide coverage. If that is the case though, I haven't seen any filings to back it up.

Anyway, its just me being nitpicky.

Today......I drove around a little bit

1F8

17.17 confirmed Balmorhea
18.18 confirmed Alpine
26.26 reported neighbor, will be Cienega Peak
27.27 confirmed Iraan
29.29 reported neighbor, will be Marfa
30.30 confirmed McCamey
38.38 reported neighbor, will be Sterling City
66.66 reported neighbor, will be Presidio
74.74 reported neighbor, will be Fort Davis (could almost decode it but didn't want to drive into the mountains today)
79.79 confirmed Ft. Stockton

I'll be swinging through the more central Texas sites remaining to be heard by the end of next week, but it'll be a few weeks to a month or so before I travel to Fort Davis where I might get the last 4 down there confirmed. Got a McDonald Observatory visit planned.

All confirmed on 5/19, just didn't get around to adding until today

101.101 Talpa confirmed this morning.

I'll probably get the last 4 far west texas mountain hold outs either this coming weekend, or mid July. Hoping for some good Tropo because diesel and time are expensive.

AEP filed buildout extension requests for the following sites:

Waldron AR - Poteau Mountain Road - Tower Safety / Delays
Big Sandy TX - 7550 US Hwy 80 - Tower Safety / Delays
Leakey TX - 650 Stamford Hollow Rd - Tower Safety / Delays
Palacios TX - County Road 470 - Tower Safety / Delays

Basically the document (with reasons) was essentially the same for every site -- tower safety issues and/or delays in acquiring stuff

------------------

CARTHAGE TX site - pending app to remove 10 freqs. Suggests to me that the site is probably online, since they usually bring a site online and then file an update to remove unused freqs.

-857.3375
-857.9125

855.6875
855.8625
858.8375

It may be a while before I get back over to East TX. 855.6875 has been the active EDACS CC for years there, so if anyone is closer and can nab it…..

I went straight by it last week on my way back from Dallas and listened to TxWARN the whole time. Didn't even think about AEP LOL

I'll check it out next time I'm in Shreveport area.

1F8 5.5 Rocksprings and 28.28 Junction are reporting 73.73 as a neighbor on 854.2875 which corresponds to Camp Wood. I don’t have any trips to Garner State Park planned this summer so it could be a long time before I get over there. The old EDACS site in Barksdale nearby could be heard from Uvalde awhile back but I don’t think I’ll be able to go through there and hold it together anytime soon.

I was able the other day find that site 90 is a peer of Martin, but I was not able to decode it.
This should be 90.90 855.5375 # Jeff KY (Perry)

@DeaconHarry16 Lavalette is showing two new frequencies. This makes sense with the FCC license now. If you get a chance can you try and direct copy Lavalette.

Site: 38.38 Lavalette

Got to love tropo. I have been keeping Mike busy this season. I have two remote sites pointed in different directions. Tropo was awesome to the South today, but dead to the North.
