For the past few weeks I haven't been able to hear Fire department traffic on conventional like I used to. I have been running two scanners one set to conventional and the second set to Anderson P25. There was a major grass fire with barn involved and I didn't hear much except a little non dispatch traffic on P25. Also my local fire department got dispatched the other night which I can hear them leave and I had both scanners going. I didn't hear them get dispatched. Also a pretty bad traffic accident in which I can hear EMS but no Fire traffic for this accident. I am aware of the change as Larry mentioned and have changed my scanners over to the new frequencies.

Anyone know what's going on?

Maybe they've changed PL tones? I've heard all of the following dispatch channels this week.

Anderson County Fire - 153.950
Anderson City FD - 155.565
Belton FD - 156.195
Honea Path FD - 158.805
Williamston FD - 155.850

I bet you that's my problem!

I had forgotten about that altogether. I tried the EZ Grab section of FREESCAN for the first time and was wondering about if would effect the reception since it fills the PL tones automatically. I will go in and set my scanners to "ALL" or whichever it is to fix it. Thanks for reminding me.

Anderson County FD 153.950 is still active. Just heard Station 26 get dispatched.

Yeah I know.... I'm embarrassed .... I'm back receiving normally now. I changed all the PLs to "NONE". It was my fault the whole time. I'm not clearly understanding PL and the moment and what there role is but as long as I have my scanner set to "NONE" it's fine.

Thank you sir for helping me with this matter.

If you can figure out how to set your radio to seach for a PL or DPL on conventional channels, then it will display any active tones being used on each frequency. I'd love to update that information in the database if you find we are listing inaccurate information.

I remember that Anderson Co. FD operated with no tone on 153.950 for a long time.Perhaps they have reverted back to not using a tone.

All I know is I switched all my conventional channels to "NONE" and started hearing fire traffic again. I'm not familiar with PL or DPL searching.

I know in the database that Anderson City Fire freq is still listed as 453.55000 in which the new is 155.5650 but I have not confirmed that since I have not heard any fire traffic on 155.5650

Larry have you heard fire traffic on the freq?

Edit: Or it is confirmed after rereading firefighter's post above.
