I don’t have a digital scanner yet. Is there a lot of activity on the Palmetto 800 P25 system?

Thanks...

Well I have a Uniden BCD325P2 due Thursday. Now I’ll have to figure out how to program it for the Anderson County Palmetto 800 P25 system and Talkgroups

Uh looks like there’s simulcast for Anderson and Greenville County. I guess the BCD325P2 won’t be up to the task :(

The effects of simulcast distortion are very dependent on your location. Meaning, you don't know how significant the effect will be in your location until you try it. Some radios work better than others. You may be able to find a "sweet spot" where reception works very well, whereas moving it a few inches left or right is terrible. Don't write off the radio you have ordered until you try it. You might get lucky and have it work very well.

Thanks, I was able to get the 325 cancelled and got a 436 on sale for only $10 more. I have plenty of other conventional frequencies to monitor. Plus the display should be easier for me to see with aging eyes. It's not an SDS100 but I'm not ready to spend $600+.

I find that there is quite a bit of DMR and NXDN activity around the state. Most of it has not yet been identified and documented, so you probably won't find it in the RR database. I feel quite certain that AnMed Heath operates a DMR radio system at its facilities. Anderson County operates a couple of conventional DMR 800MHz repeaters for city services. SC Fleettalk has a NXDN site in Anderson, it seems quite busy. And I imagine there are plenty of other conventional channels used by manufacturers and other businesses.

Thanks Brian, I was curious as to the actual amount of activity. I think the DMR upgrade would be worth it. Noting that city and county services is DMR. Seems like they're always digging up something :)

You're not going to hear much if any public safety, but there will be plenty of business and manufacturing users of DMR.
