Android Display over bluetooth

First thanks to garetgarett for developing this. I know I am late to the thread but I was able to get this working with my BCD396XT and my HTC M8 phone using a cheap Bluetooth to serial adapter.
I thought I'd share my notes in case someone else is trying to do the same.

Module used is a BC04-B "Bolutek" purchased on ebay. Note this module has a switch labeled "Master/OFF/Slave" and a black reset button. No DSR/DTR switch.

Install garet's app
- Download the apk zip file. - Rename to bluetoothscanner.apk and copy to your phone.
- Install the apk.

Configure the Module.
- To configure the module I used putty set to correct serial port and baud, and a serial to usb adapter connected with a straight through 9 pin gender changer.
Default baud for the module was 9600. Selector switch in the slave position. Power connected via the mini usb port.
- The AT commands for this module are different than others have posted here.
- To start the session type AT, response is OK.
- To set baud type AT+BAUD8, response is +BAUD=8 (this sets baud to 115200)
- That is all I changed from default. No messing with DTR,DSR...

Pairing to phone.
- Switch in the slave position
- Module disconnected from serial cable
- Scan for new device on your phone. Bolutek comes up with my module.
- Pair device, code is 1234

Connect to the scanner
- Verify that the serial setting on your scanner is set to 115200
- Important: Power the blue tooth module first before connection to the scanner. In my case the module will not connect to Bluetooth if the serial connection is plugged in when powering on.
- Module switch in the Slave position
- Using a null modem adapter connect the unit to your scanner
- Run the Bluetooth scanner app and choose the Bluetooth module "Bolutek" as your device.

Pinouts
- I made my serial cable from a "4 pin mini B usb MP3 cable" ordered on ebay I cut the USB A end off and soldered on a 9 pin DSub female connector using this pinout.
Scanner DSub
Pin1 to Pin 2
Pin2 to Pin 8
Pin 3 to Pin3
Gnd to Pin 5

As detailed above for connection to the PC I used a straight through gender changer and to connect to the scanner I used a male to female null modem adapter.
I use Waze every day and its great to see the scanner display on my phone screen. At the very least its a cheap way to get GPS functionality on the BCD396XT.

Thanks,

Hi All

Seems like I am a bit late to the party, but hope there might be some guys around who got this working OR have found another option?

I am using the BC04-B "Bolutek" which is mentioned in post #102. Was able to make connection to the BT device and set baud successfully. Can connect to BT device on 115200 and AT commands all work fine.

I am able to pair with the BT device from my phone successfully, takes some time but eventually works.
I have setup the connection to the radio (346XT) in the same way as suggested in post #102 above, also using a null modem cable between BT device and the radio serial cable.

I have only been able to see the scanner display twice, and that only for a few seconds. App popped up "346XT connected" message. That out of about 50 tries so far!:(

I am seeing the exact same issue JamesO has reported in post #92. Connection is there for a few seconds and then disconnects without any screen display. I can see on the BT module that the blue light stays on for a few seconds (2-4sec max) and then disconnects and goes back to flashing.

I bought 2 BT devices just to be sure and see exactly the same happening with both. Phone used was HAUWEI P8 Lite and also just to test a Samsung S3.

ANY assistance would be greatly appreciated.
