Hi all, I've been through the forums and every other link for this problem and it seems im not the only one, but cant seem to find the "correct answer". I have a Pro-97 , 20-157 and rs 800mhz rubber duckie. Im trunking this system...http://www.nf2g.com/scannist/index.htm

Now I can hear the buzz on 2 of the controll channels ...856.3375 and 856.5875 and im trunking both at 99% with the rs 800mhz duckie.

So my question is am I suppose to lock out theses control channels or not. When I scan the bank nothing ever happens, yet when I go through manually I can hear conversations.

Obviously with the control channels not locked out in scan mode it stops on them, yet with them locked out I hear nothing in scan mode.

I have win97 (thanx Don for making life that much easier..lol) and the bank is set as follows,

1: All the control freqs in the link above are entered
2: I have not programed any of the talk id's
3: The bank is set to Mot
4: The bank is in open mode
5: It is set to normal 800 mhz
6: My custom trunking table has a base freq set to 851.0125 with an offset of 380 and step of 25.0.. (not even sure if I had to do this but it worked)

so again, everything works fine in manual, but nothing during scan. Help!!!!

Highpockets, I apologize for this but I can not copy the link, the system is listed in nf2g.com under NY, Albany , public safety Albany county sheriff trunked. the system seems to be more open than specific to the tag , and I do get police traffic, just unknowm who.

Highpockets, Ive set the bank to edacs and all frequencies to edacs and it worked, only one transmission so far but it worked on scan mode!!!THANK YOU for the help, even though I feel a lil bit dumb for not trying that myself (since on the website in big bold letters it says "EDACS" system).

yet one question remains, are the control channels supposed to be locked out or not. In all the forums Ive read, some say yes ,some say no, anyone know the "correct" answer or is it a "what works best for you" type thing .

Edacs uses all the channels in lcn order. If you put it in 00 bank, and lcn 1 is 856.3375 put that in 01 freq. lcn 2 is no freq leave 02 freq blank. lcn 3 is 856.8375 put in 03 freq, I hope you get that.

ok, I totally understand what your sayng, the way I had it set up was every frequency on the site programed in the bank starting at 00 going to 34.

Im guessing I shouldnt do that. So should I just program the sites that I know work in seperate banks i.e crawford hill bank 1 and new scotland bank 2.? list just those frequncies in two seperate banks?
Also , as of right know with moving ALL the frequencies down 1 channel and setting it to edacs seemed to work, my radio is on scan mode and stopping on all transmissions.

Down at the bottom of that site, you see what talkgroups come over on what site, just enter the sites your interested in listening to. Each will have to be in there own bank. Figure it out on paper, you may only have to enter 2 or 3 sites or less.

The radio stops on all transmissions on scan mode know. My only regret is that I didnt post this question sooner, I've been trying to figure this out now for a week researching everything everywhere. I just like to figure things out myself and not bother people ya know, BUT IM VERY GLAD I DID. AGAIN...THANKS MAN..

If it is an EDACS system, then the bank, as well as all frequencies, MUST be set for EDACS (ED). You MUST program in all frequencies for EDACS, not just the control channels. DO NOT lock any frequency out. They must be entered in the proper LCN order, starting with channel xx1. DO NOT use channel xx0, or it won't work! No base, step, offset, fleetmap, etc. is needed for an EDACS system, that's for Motorola systems only.

And there it is, the question is answered, DO NOT lock out control channels ,along with many other questions . Hopefully alot of people can benefit through this post as I did, as well as many others regarding Trunking.
Thanks Ken, it was working with what highpockets told me, but after a few more adjustments its a huge difference now. I ve been able to store and confirm 4 tgid's now.
Not to be a bother but I do have one more question, I think I know the answer but Id like to "make sure". Is it possible to store standard frequncies in an EDACS bank?

Yes, just enter them after the EDACS system as you would any other conventional frequencies.
