I’ve always run a 1/4 wave or a Larsen tri/dual band antenna on my vehicle. Just wondering if anyone uses one of those hockey puck/pancake antennas or one of the fin antennas on their vehicle?
With the change over in the provincial radio system coming soon it will mainly be monitoring fire departments in the vhf range for me. Interested to hear the response to this question

The pucks work fine for UHF and higher. A VHF puck is not going to perform anywhere near as well as a whip style. Some of the low profile cylindrical antennas (4 inch high) also work well on VHF but tuning and band is critical on them. The eBay versions function, but do not perform as well as a 'commercial' version.
