Antenna Question

I have a Radio Shack Pro 89 race scanner and I'm looking to get a mobile "magnetic" antenna...but there are soo many to choose from...which one would best to use and still get the best clarity?

the one thats going to stay on the car when your driving down the hiway doing 70 mph is the best bet

ya the smaller the better...but I think scanning on the higher frequencies require a longer on?

I use a 2 meter quarter wave (19") on the car and it's pretty marginal on VHF. My 5/8 wave (48" ?) works MUCH better, but it doesn't clear the parking structure at work ... but hey, that's what mag mounts are for ...

3 inches? For 800 mhz maybe.

An old cellular mag mount works great on 800MHz obviously, and is pretty decent on VHF for scanning. Not too good on low band VHF though.
