Any help with what settings you use for trunked and conventional in Maryland?

Threshold, time delay, hold, squelch? Been trying to fine tune Harford county, baltimore county, MSP and Baltimore city. Seems sometimes they come in super clear and loud, sometimes choppy with only 3 bars signal, sometimes low.
What can you do when your have one department closer with a low volume and another department further where a guy sounds like he is eating the mic?

It very much depends on the quality of the signal you're receiving, along with whether you're receiving more than one tower at a time. In the case of simulcast systems that are digital, simulcast distortion issues are quite common - we have an extensive wiki article on the subject...
