Are there any milair listeners monitoring NAS Norfolk? I am trying to confirm frequencies I have for the squadrons there and haven't had reports from the area for some time. I have plenty of old logs, but trying to verify that those freqs are still current.

I have most of these, just haven't confirmed them in several years. But the big missing part is the HSC squadrons. I do know that 347.800 is no HSC-26 base; it was replaced by 346.275 sometime around 2016 or so. Here's what I have, with years reported for each freq:

HM-12 (AN-43#) DRAGON
Base: 274.600?, 312.900?, 345.100?
Tac: ???

HM-14 (BJ-5##) VULCAN
Base: 311.450 ('18)
Tac: 339.950 ('18)

HM-15 (TB-##) HURRICANE
Base: 270.700 ('18)
Tac: ???

HSC-2 (HU-7##) REDHAWK
Base: 340.300 ('21)
Tac: 246.800 ('18)

HSC-5 (AG-61#) NIGHTDIPPER
Base: ???
Tac: 303.000 ('09)

HSC-7 (AC-61#) DUSTY
Base: 348.250 ('18)
Tac: 357.000 ('19)

HSC-9 (AJ-61#) TRIDENT
Base: 289.475 ('18)
Tac: 275.400 ('12), 276.875? ('19)

HSC-11 (AB-61#) DRAGONSLAYER
Base: ???
Tac: 355.450 ('19)

HSC-22 (AM-##) CRUSADER
Base: 306.000 ('18)
Tac:

HSC-26 (HW-##) CHARGER
Base: 340.275 ('18)
Tac: 246.900 ('15), 282.800 ('14)

HSC-28 (BR-##) BAY RAIDER
Base: 314.100 ('18)
Tac: ???

----------

VAW-120 (AD-6##) GREYHAWK
Base: 328.300 ('21)
Tac: 236.350 ('18), 267.400?, 281.200?, 349.750 ('18), 383.400?

VAW-121 (AG-60#) GRIFFIN
Base: 300.500 ('22)
Tac: 268.950 ('22)

VAW-123 (AC-60#) SCREWTOP
Base: 361.050 ('18)
Tac: 235.400 ('19), 246.900 ('16)

VAW-124 (AJ-60#) BEAR
Base: 281.700?

Thanks for sharing, Jared. That really helps me update my list. Let me know if you want to compare NAS Oceana as well.

thanks to the both of you for sharing. i would like to get my hands on oceania and langley i possible also

I second that, thanks. I'm also looking for the A-A Tac freqs used by the Navy F-18s out of Oceana (KNTU) when they are working in W72.

Also a question about the Giant Killer frequencies in W72. I've been able to verify (LiveATC) all of them except for the common frequency 271.500. I'm guessing they only need to use this frequency when it gets busy out in the far eastern parts of the warning area, which doesn't seem like very often, just wondering if anyone has heard it in use ? The times I have heard a few aircraft in that part of W72B (2C-2F, 3C-3E) the were using 289.900.

Here are my W72 notes so far. Any comments appreciated.

Might be a good idea to check the status of the various squadrons you have info for. I think some are decommissioned and some may have merged. I visit Norfolk a fair amount, but don't catch much MilAir because of QRM from the Navy's ELMR.

All the ones I posted are still active. I didn't include VMM-774 because they are supposed to move to MCAS New River shortly.

I monitored 271.5 within the last year, so it is being used. Can't tell you how often, however.

Received nicely. Thanks man. Guessing you don't have anything for carolina would you? I'm trying to find seymour cherry point etc now
Seymour was using a lot of freqs between 300 & 302 MHz at one time. Were also using some freqs that resembled some of their squadron numbers.

The frequencies listed in the database for Seymour Johnson are pretty good. I get hits on a lot of the tenant listings. I’m roughly 20 miles from the base.

I know this was a month ago, but I'm very close to NAS Norfolk. I currently have a computer problem and can't access a database and computer control I had working for one of my scanners, but I could probably fix it rather quickly given a reason to. Especially if you have a text file of frequencies you'd like checked/monitored(comma, space or tad delineated), I could probably do that. I'm in a decent location for milair monitoring, even though right now my antenna setup sucks. I can hear(audibly) when F-22 Raptors take off from Langley AFB(most of the time anyway) and E-2s and C-2s fly overhead fairly often. I know I monitor at least some of the Chambers frequencies, but with my computer being down, checking what freqs get hits is difficult. The helicopters from Chambers go overhead often and they fly up and down the James River to Felker Field at Ft Eustis and generally all around the area. I'd also be interested in any area military freqs like Oceana, Langley, Chambers Field (NAS Norfolk). I've had pretty good freqs for Langley in the past, but my most recent source is 6 years old now.(haven't really noticed any, or if so, not many changes).

Looking at your drawing, the central corridor should be 2 lines to the left and extend from the top to the bottom of W-72, so it makes kinda a t with 2 crossing lines with the central corridor separating the B and C areas.(or W-72A from W-72B on the sectional I think.)

I don’t have my computer for the next few days, but if you just take the freqs from this post, those are all Chambers.

I’ll DM you some Langley freqs so I don’t hijack the thread.
