I live in Halfmoon and have a great view of the mountains around me and a lot of the times I hear vermont police and dispatch. Shafsburry, have NO idea of the spelling but it sounds like that. I wonder why when vermont is a little bit far away. just wondering if anyone else that scans the VHF police has heard them. just interesting on how far it gets.

I hear them all the time on 460.375. Its not that far as the crow flies. VSP Brattleboro chimes in also at 453.300. Plug in 154.250 and you'll hear Rutland County Fire in Vermont. 159.195 is highway and they are clear down this way too

Most of Vermont's law enforcement agencies use the UHF radio band (450-470 MHz.), while most of Vermont's Fire & EMS agencies use the VHF radio band (150-162 MHz.). There are exceptions, such as around some of the metropolitan areas like Burlington, Rutland and Montpelier.

Washington County, NY Fire Control dispatches some Vermont fire departments & EMS agencies on their dispatch frequencies as well.

For more Vermont frequencies, check out the list I built at my site:
