Is there anyone in Colorado Springs that happens to have a working programming cable for a Pro-2096? The cable I have is coming up as not compatible with my comptuer or OS (which is weird, I'd used it before). I have a Pro-2096 on the newsdesk that was not programmed properly by the station before my time and it is full of all sorts of nonsense, and no alpha tags, just TG IDs. I'd like to repogram it, but the cable I have isn't working. I can put together the programming file for how I want it done, I just need someone to help me send the programming to the scanner.

Thanks

If you don't locate anyone in COS, I have a spare cable that I can send to you. It's old technology -- serial connection. BTW, are you're using a RS 20-047 cable? A stereo/mono adapter is needed.

I'll check the cable when I get home and let you know what it is. I don't have a serial port on my laptop, so not sure I could use it.

Hello, did you get your programming issue resolved? I have a pro-2096 that I programmed to listen to the CO site 6 on Cheyenne Mtn. The scanner cannot handle simulcast. I am using the radio shack 20-047 usb scanner cable with the orange plastic case. The USB driver I am using is from FTDI. Driver date is 7/5/2021. Version 2.12.36.4. The driver is digitally signed to support windows 10 security. The drivers can be found here - Drivers - FTDI Here are some helpful links for troubleshooting: https://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Connecting_scanners_via_USB; Radio Shack 20-047 Driver

What channels do you have programmed in it? Can you hear any CSFD on Cheyenne Mt? I believe last time I tried that I heard nothing. I hear them pretty well on my WS1065, but it's choppy sometimes. I'm working on getting CSFD to provide us with an FD handheld on their simulcast for our news desk, we have a PD encrypted handheld, but need an FD radio.

No, CSFD uses RFSS#4 system (simulcast) which the scanner is not capable of handling simulcast transmissions. State of Colorado DTRS Trunking System, Statewide, Multi-State identifies the two DTRS systems that support El Paso County. On that page, there is a note that states "El Paso County and its local municipalities are part of the Pikes Peak Regional Communications Network. This area is covered by a simulcast system and can only be received in a quality manner by current high tier scanners." The scanner is capable of monitoring RFSS #6 system and all talk groups that use that system (CSP, state mutual aid, Interop, etc.)
