• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I ordered a KG-UV2D from wouxun.us the other day and I am getting email back from them saying supplies are exausted and new shipments are being delayed. Anyone else get that feedback?

Anyone place an order this week and get a shipping confirmation yet?

Each importer gets a different model. The KG-UV1D, KG-UV2D, & the KG-UV3D, are basically the same radio. Just order one of the other models from another importer. GARY N4KVE

I ordered one a week ago today and got it in Tuesday. Guess I lucked out and got one the the last they had in inventory. Hope that does not mean he has a super software/firmware unit on the way that I will regret not getting one of. My luck if that is so.

Listen to Moonboots...order from powerwerx.com. Same radio, their price $120!!! I didn't know the Chinese were so accomodating. Gary says they will make a new model number for their distributors. So the 1D is for wouxon.us, the 2D for ??? and the 3D for powerwerx.

Wouxon.us has the KG-UV2D model. I have had my 3 for a while, two are the 2/440 and one is the 2/220 and they are really good. I use them a lot. I bought mine from them and if they are awaiting supplies, then you will have to wait. These are selling like hotcakes.

I just got 2 from wouxun.us. 1 for me and 1 for dad. The only issue we ran into was we were going to go with the one with a uhf band from 350-470. They said it'd be weeks or a month to get them so we opted for the 420-520 version instead. Took about a week.

For anyone searching for additional sources - stay away from eBay. The prices I found there are about 3x what is being charged by the dealers mentioned in this thread.

Why not get it from PowerWerx?

I ordered mine from them because I like the look of the radio better than the other models. What I didn't know was that the board inside was not lined up correctly with the case and when I would use the programming cord it would then disable all audio functions even long after the removal of it from the radio. I'm not the only one to have this problem and wished I found out sooner before buying from them.

I since then had to return my radio for a replacement which didn't seem like much of a difference because I still had this problem until one day it magically disapeared. There is a guy on youtube who posted a video about how much he loved this 3D from powerwerx which is why I ordered from then, little did I know that not long after he posted another video of all the problems he was having.

On more than one occasion I have heard of the poor and rude customer support from them as well.

I'm not one to put down anyone's company but they need to stand by their product and be nice to their customers. I'm willing to post all the feedback people have sent me from them as well as the video upon request. don't want to be banned or anything.

I am not affiliated with any company by the way just a kid in HS who can't afford to throw money away like this, luckily I am still able to use my wouxun

I got the TYT UVF1 dualband unit 136-174/403-470mhz with the red trim option to use for EMCOMMS. (Also receives FM radio so I can listen to music on those long emcomm drills)

The red trim distinguishes it from my other radios used for just regular comms. I also ordered the red mic so it really stands out as an only emergency use radio. I guess it could be used as a back up radio for Ham freqs but, the red highlights really set it apart.

Programming is easy as well since it uses a Kenwood program cable that I already have and the software is free for downloading from their site.

If you go to their site they only show the black version but I got mine with the red trim on eBay for $114 shipped. Not bad.

Just my 2 cents worth.

There are differences between the various HT models. The "1D" version didn't have the DTMF tone capabilities to start with. Later models of the same radio did, but there was a change in the model designator.
I don't know what all of the changes were, but there was more than just the one. I understands that the "3D" model was made for 'PowerWerxs', seems reasonable to me.
All models are basically the same, use the same programs, etc.

Wouxun Orders

Those here waiting on Wouxun US orders, I just received this E-Mail info which I edited to save some space:

"If you placed an order within the past few days you are not aware that because of a shipping delay from China, my radio supply had dwindled. The good news is that a shipment of 500 arrived last night and I am working as quickly as I can to get all orders shipped. Because of the delay, there are 127 orders waiting so it will take a couple days to work through them. They should all go out by this weekend.

Now for the bad news. Of all the accessories I need the most, they delayed the shipment of USB cables. I have some cables on hand, and not all orders need a USB cable. The shipment of cables should arrive Monday, so here is my plan. After I use up the cables on hand, I will continue to ship orders and will back-order the cable. When the cables arrive Monday, I will mail them out separately."

I guess I had better hold the accessory order I was going to make for a few days. Even if he has what I was going to order in stock it looks like he will be shipping the radio orders and put me in order received anyway which is only fair.

Indeed!

Wouldn't it be great if Icom, Yaesu, and Kenwood realize that with better pricing, that's 500 radios they COULD HAVE sold!!

Competition is good!!

I ordered my first KG-UV2D Tuesday and received an order acknowledgement soon after. I haven't received a shipping notification yet, but given the information above, I would be OK with waiting till the USB cable can be shipped with it this Monday. Looking forward to using this radio for local talk.

I ordered a pair of the KG-UV2D plus some accessories from wouxun.us back on February 27th. Ed shipped out what he had available very quickly and was delivered by March 2nd. The only item that was back ordered was the AA battery cases. Ed has been giving me email updates since then so communication has been good. His service was quick and efficient so I highly recommend buying from him.

Wouxun Inventory

Just to clear the air about this thread. As of 3/14, all items are in stock. Dealing with the Chinese is a challenge sometimes when it comes to shipping. Their schedule can be delayed, delays can occur with customs (both when passing through Hong Kong and again in the US). Also add to the mix that you customers are never predictable. We may sell 10 of a certain item one month and 500 the next month. You as a customer only invest a hundred bucks or so in an order, we dealers on the other hand, might invest $50,000 for one month's inventory. Back orders drive us nuts too. When a delay happens most dealers try to keep everybody in the loop and try to get out everything as quickly as possible. It takes some time to work through 100 or so orders though. 73, Ed Wouxun.US
