I recently grabbed 2 new G4's and was wondering if anything new was on the horizon with Unication?
Why?I just want a G4 in some sort of base/mobile/desktop configuration.MANY of my local FD's use G4's and have APX4500's as a base radio. It would be so nice to have a desktop/base type of set up for station alerting and monitoring. I understand the concept of the amplified base, but just not a fan of that setup.
As mentioned in my post, again, I understand the amplified base concept, just not a fan. (to each their own) Also, much cheaper to place something like that, than a several thousand dollar mobile radio dedicated just to the station. We are on a statewide, simulcast trunked system that requires TDMA radios. Why?
Along with the capability to scan neighboring departments and/or LE talkgroups that aren't programmed into the radios. However, that is another conversation.for station alerting and monitoring

I understood the post. I just was trying to figure out why about the amplified base. I can understand "not a fan" as a personal opinion I was just wondering if in your experience you had noted shortcomings in it. It does pop a bit it seems compared to just the pager audio on some TGs but maybe it doesn't bother me as much as some. I use it for the external antenna connector also.mentioned in my post, again, I understand the amplified base concept, just not a fan. Did not mean to come across as snarky, my apologies if it did. I just feel like a more "streamlined" and lower profile desktop/mobile type unit where you have maybe even the same size screen with volume and selector knobs on the face with a forward or even up or down facing speaker and external antenna port. That could serve a few different purposes IMO. Something like that where if you have a pager that is pretty much staying in one spot, turn it into a more "stationary" setup so to speak.I understood the post. Good enough. Like I said I was just curious. I use mine often it helps when I am using 1g5 bare on a more local site and 1 in the amplified base on either an external antenna or the one on the back. A Unication "base/mobile" would be awesome. I agree.Did not mean to come across as snarky, my apologies if it did. All our local fire departments went DMR but when they looked at the price of a Unication pager, they decided just to buy them a radio instead.Remember their market is the Public Service Market. With more Fire Departments going NXDN it would be much needed to add that to their Pagers.
Unication made the 3, 4 & 5. Motorola made the 6 & 7.Just a side note Unication made all the Motorola Minitor 3 4 5 and 6's from what I was told by insiders.
Yea they have one for conventional scan but not trunk scanAll I want for Christmas is a scan delay.![]()
