Hello to everyone. Just acquired a really nice AOR 3000A and seeking advice from any other owners out there. Had the
usual DOA on startup, performed the reset and am now leaving it powered for several days. I also see the battery under
the black tape on underside -- I assume this is a solder connection? Does anyone have a photo showing it (I haven't removed
the black hold down tape yet). Any other tips for this nice little radio appreciated. I'm in Maryland.

Updating my post: have just found the online RadioCruncher video showing battery details so I am good on that.
Anyone else with any tips on the receiver greatly appreciate it. I see the mods at mods.dk...

Check out this site: RigPix Database - AOR - AR-3000A
Scroll down to "related documents" there is an owners manual and service manual.
Also there is a post here on RR for exactly what you asked, and several others on the AOR AR 3000A
use the "Search " function in the upper right corner.

A nice receiver. I use mine for HF SSB monitoring and it does a good job despite what some people think. Is yours the stock AR-3000A or the plus model ?

This was purchased new by original owner years ago. So likely stock. Also, still has the clear plastic film on front. Would like to take that off but concerned it has fused with the panel. Also, anyone have any alternative solutions for the 2032 battery mount?

Seems the battery is a generic 2032 solder in type. Easy to find and cheap.
If you are handy with a screwdriver and soldering station, it would be worth while to replace it.

While I have a good stock of batteries with the correct pin spacing, I found it easy to solder extended leads on a CR2032 battery holder and then solder to the board and remote mount the battery. If you keep the radio always plugged into 12v the battery will last a long time, if the radio is left to sit for years without power then you will need to change it . If radio locks up plug in for short time, remove bottom cover and press reset button while hooking up power again to get it to reset.
