AOR AR-8200 MK3 earphone socket

Please tell me how I can listen privately to this scanner with the sound coming through both earphones?

A mono/stereo adapter sticks out too far.

Can the socket be modified to stereo?

Is there anywhere where I can buy mono headphones?

NSG, if I am not mistaken the 8200's audio output is mono only. Please refer to your manual to be certain, I have only monitered with earpiece a few times.

I bought a mono plug at RS and cut off the stereo plug and soldered the phone's wires to the mono plug. I was never crazy about the non-stereo jack and the fact that it sticks out the side just waiting to get broken off. But I love the radio, have the original 8200 many years now.
