Mnpls UHF P25 Statewide

The freq listed as statewide is not a repeater system that covers the whole state on that freq.

It is a repeater pair that can be used by anyone "STATEWIDE" to put up a repeater. If any interference does occur it is the responsibility of the two repeaters to work it out as no repeater is cord. on that pair within the state.

I want to say that the repeater is one at a house in the north subs of mnpls but I could be wrong.

I know myself and a few others are working on an open all mode (P25, D-Star, Analog, Data) in western WI (just into WI from the Twin Cities). With funding and the economy we will see how far or how soon this will be up and running.

Do you all have a project page or something? I have been wanting to put my computer science degree to good use in my radio hobby. I am curious as to what you all are thinking will be the solution to such a system. Are you saying one that can detect which protocol a carrier is using and then pass that traffic through a single repeater?

Granted there is no trunking involved, this should be a fairly easy project granted the right minds are involved.

I discussed this with someone in the past, I called it the Open-Protocol Repeater Project or OPRP. Never got anywhere past an almost nonsensical conversation.

It has been that way for the last 2 or 3 years....but the number of pages has increased.
Looks like the local coordinators have been recognizing the systems and publishing them seperately.

ok here's a question, what kind of radios is everyone using for this? Are there ham radios out there that are apco25 capable... or are you using professional radios like motorola's etc.

Yep, I use an Astro Saber and Astro Spectra for both the local 440 P25 system and the 2 Meter P25 system.

I used a Racal until I sold it. VHF, 136-174, FPP. They go for about $300 to $400 used. Great radio. The only thing bad about 'em is that you need to mortgage the house to get batteries.

Hi, I am in Austin and we have 3 p25 repeaters here.. Does anyone have a list for texas or a nationwide list made up yet? I'd like to get a copy.. I have a UHF and VHF astro saber and a vhf spectra that are p25 capable.. I would like to try to work some DX P25 repeaters when there's a band opening..

Thanks!

Are you talking about band opening as far as ducting or do you want to DX on linked repeaters?

I'm planning a trip to Southern California in October for my son's boot camp graduation. I'd love to play around on a P25 repeater but am having a hard time finding informaiton. I KNOW there is more out there than the ARRL Repeater Directory lists. As someone else mentioned, p25ham.com requires a password.

I'm looking for 2m only, since my P25 capable radios are VHF (XTS2500 w FPP and XTS 3000). Don't ask why I have two VHF P25 rigs and no UHF. Long story.

Anyway, I'll be spending several days in San Diego, and then headed up to Ventura County for a few days, then driving back to Colorado.

I'm trying to compile a new list of P25 repeaters across the world for my website since P25ham has dissipated. Anyone got a cache of the old p25ham.com site I can use as a reference?

I have a frapper map that I posted on this thread a few pages back. I believe it had everything that p25ham.com had listed and maybe even a few more.

K5MOT repeater nac??

K5MOT 147.32 +offset PL 110.9 Fort Worth, TX
Some of the other Motorola club repeaters around here may be P25
but this is the only one I have heard digital modulation on.

Tom ND5Y

Would you happen to have the NAC (Network Access Code).. P25 repeaters don't use a PL tone..

ARRL repeater guide only has 3 p25 repeaters

Check the new ARRL repeater guide. There are pages of P25 systems.

I have checked that out.. and like I said, there are only 3 p25 repeaters listed for the whole country in the arrl travel plus for repeaters 13...

Older 2004 posts..

I believe that P25 is the ONLY digital voice protocal allowed in the Amature service. (Since it is an open standard)

Correct me if I am wrong.

What is DSTARS?

And as for the repeater type, would it not be the C4FM that would be hard to get an older transmitter to pass, not the IMBE vocoding?

It's so funny to see how clueless everyone was about P25..and even digital modes (VSELP, DSTAR, ETC) only a few years ago.. There are several hams in my area that freak out when they hear the digital sound on our repeater here.. I've even had to tell a couple of guys that they were hearing p25 a few different times..
