Yaesu: APRS Thursday with Yaesu FT5D

I'm trying to participate in APRS Thursday with my Yaesu FT5D. I have the receiving station (ANSRVR) typed in, and the message -- a simple 73 from AZ, but when I try to press M-TX to send, nothing happens. Can anyone tell me what to try next?

Make certain you have your Beacon function to [AUTO] or [SMART]. Also check to ensure that your GPS function is on under the [APRS] -> [24 MY POSITION] is set to GPS. It won't send a Beacon signal without receiving GPS data.

checking aprs.fi doesn't look like you've made it to the internet. If you are being digipeated then they are probably not within range of an igate.
