Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Can the APX be programmed like the Harris radios with A-B-C switches for channel bank selection? If so, how? The help file is no help...

I’m not sure that is 100% correct.

In the main menu of CPS go to Radio Ergonomics Configuration. Then go to Controls. Then click on Switches. Under Toggle Switch set all three to Zone Select.

If the OP is asking about setting up the ABC switch to act like the ABCD selector on a XLP where you can have it as channel banks for A CH1-16 and then B for 17-32 and so on the answer is no. Setting the ABC to Zone Select will toggle the first 3 zones in your list, it wont allow you reach channels within a zone past 16.

Right but OP is asking about channel banks, all you are describing is changing zones with the A/B/C. OP wants to access channels 17+ using the A/B/C switch which again, not possible.

Right. Did that. The question is....can it be setup like the Harris radios? 48 channels in a zone, 1-16 on A, 17-32 on B and 33-48 on C.

I got it.....kinda stupid that you can pit so many channels into a zone, but can't access anything over 16.
No. It is just the first 3 zones.
More than the first 3 zones...depending on the maximum number of channel banks you define

Just curious what difference would it make whether it was channels 17-32 in one zone, or channels 1-16 in a second zone? I get that it isn't functioning exactly the same way as the harris, but to the end user, wouldn't it be the same?
