• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

With Experience in XTS NAS Using The conventional selective TG Scan Method (Voice Channel Scan) if I did the same thing on APX would it demodulate the TDMA Signals? Assuming it has TDMA in the flashcode.

I’m not here to argue. NAS in a MSI subscriber ain’t hard, I’ve been doing it for over 30 years.

I guess it depends on your definition of a better choice.
I will say, and I am also not here to argue, that Motorola has great quality, but for me, it's one of those risks I wouldn't take, you have 30 years I've been doing RF for 3.

Which subscribers are better? And don’t tell me Harris because it takes hacked/pirated software to program it.
I believe with the old RPM version 10 an AAC wasn't required. And if someone has a legit copy of it, it's fair game to any old subscribers like the M/P7300.

That's my understanding also. But I have no need to mess with such things. If we have a legitimate need to access someone else's trunked system, we do it the right way.

Scanners and Unication pagers seem to solve this issue, though.

The XG-75 (M or P) is TDMA capable with the right feature (no 47) in the feature string.
List price on that feature is 250 dollars.

Not addressing programming.
programming is a pain in it. The software is almost impossible to get, and the cables are expensive so you put say $200 for the radio and expect to spend $800 on cables software (IF you can get it)

The purpose of those cable and software prices is to discourage NON-SHOP USE.
Because nobody wants to deal with scannerland people. As a hobby, it tends to attract the type of peson who wants to do every part of their setup on a shoestring or cheaper budget but want unlimited free 24/7 technical support, free software, and free cables.

When I was the chief tech at the last radio shop I worked at, the company response to Scanner Scotty was always the same: We don't do that. We program radios only in accordance with what's on YOUR FCC LICENSE. I wouldn't even do it on a personal level for someone whose radios were a type that I could handle. Neither the company nor myself would accept any possible future liabilities.

However I'd tell people where they could look to acquire the resources needed to do it themselves.

I thought the XG-75M is programmed with any old DB9 cable. So Just add a serial card to your PC, much cheaper than some special cable.

This has gone so off topic lol but I was just gonna add that I am now in the process of selling my xts5000 for another Unication g2, I know people on these forums go overboard about saying the same thing “BUY A G2, FORGET NAS” and people like me never really understood, nor did we actually care- but ive come to the final point that is saying Motorolas arent worthit, need illegal methods to program most of the time, need constant tuning, and on phase 2 need absolutely mind smashing methods of programming that in the end aren’t worth it for systems that will eventually introduce control channel encryption, I find that the only logical purchase is a Unication, they have the same reception (WHICH IS THE REASON I EVER BOUGHT A MOTOROLA), Same voice volume (similar) and decode mighty fine, I can’t justify I purchase of a Motorola that is just not as good as a Unication, I hope anyone reading this scrolling through the forums for a answer or instruction for NAS reads this and comes to the same conclusion I do before wasting any time or money, The only purchase that is actually philosophically right for someone who isn’t a word that isn‘t acceptable in this generation is a Unication. I cannot justify Motorolas anymore nor should I ever ever ever tell someone to even by anything off them except an antenna for you Unication 😂.
