Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi guys,
I was wanting to know if the APX 7000 radio can be reflashed to add other options like FPP, Encryption and Bluetooth?
Where would I have to bring it to get flashed for those options? The dealer, system programmer?

Thank you in advance!

FPP is not an option that can be ordered by anyone but an authorized federal government agency. Not to say its not available by some programmers who can upgrade the radio that are able to do it outside Motorola's control.

Jeff at Sandy's Communications has been great dealing with people who need things like this. A lot of dealers won't touch personally owned radios or they don't know how to order upgrades for higher end radios.

Not true. I have FPP capable APX's that were ordered direct from my account manager, but they do require the side dongle. Either way a local government entity can order them but you just need to know how to do it. :D

I own three (3) APX 7000s in various frequency combinations, I ordered mine from dealer and all have FPP without a dongle, just tap it in, I don't use FPP, because the CPS to program the radio is so much easier, also cannot program trunked systems with FPP,

Bluetooth requires a board, but other items can be flashed and Sandy's is great

Does the Q53 FPP require the dongle?
Can the "Enable TDMA" option be flashed in as well?
Can it be flashed through CPS or does it require special programming?

Thank yall very much for the quick responses.

I have one radio with Q53 and the others are Q52, none require the dongle. TDMA is a Flash Code option, which CPS will not add to your flashcode, you have to purchase it from someone like Sandy's.

When you start shopping for an APX, the flashcode is everything, if you don't have the Legacy System Key flash, you cannot program trunked systems, you also need the 9600 baud flash, etc....best to read up on what flashes are available and what you will be doing with the APX to make sure you get the right flash, when I am in Florida, I use a lot of P25 HAM repeaters, which require Q806 flash, hope this helps, just do some reading on the APX and you will learn what you need for what you want to do.
