Taka at AOR yesterday told me that Gommert at Butel actually has an AR-DV1 that he picked up at Dayton.
(By the way, any news I post from Taka at AOR is with his permission. There are some things he wishes me to keep confidential at this time.}
Even greater news now. Taka just sent me an e-mail that "he received an e-mail from Gommert today, who has been working on software for the AR-DV1, and it should be ready at the end of this month for sale in July.
That is indeed great news. This will step up the function of the AR-DV1 quite a bit in my opinion. Gommert, if you read this post, thank you very much.

This is great news for the AR-DV1 owners! Software and firmware will definately be on a continuing path to refine the AR-DV1.

Gommert has a long history of writing good programming and control software and I own several of his programs. I'm not sure I'd hold my breath about it adding any of the coveted "features" but it is definitely a positive sign with regards to being able to program the receiver with something other than one's fingers.

If the command protocols are released it could potentially open the doors for some interesting third party developments, but the problem that remains is that how many of them are going to be out there, and how worthwhile is it for someone to take the time to write software for them?

The onus is still on AOR to do "something". As the Tom Petty song says, "the future was wide open...". They could seize the day....or bonk. The choice is theirs. Surely enough "wink wink nudge nudge" has been provided from these forums. :D

I see that the Butel software is going to be pretty basic and be used mainly for programming the scanner.
I don't expect that software to add any new features. I certainly agree that the onus in on AOR to do "something." And I like your choice of "lyrics" Scott. My wife and I have seen Tom Petty many times over the years starting back in the late 1970s.

There will be two versions, basic for programming and pro for programming and control etc. Protocol still has many issues so we have to wait for AOR. I have sent them feedback with suggestions.

AR-DV1 ARC Software

Hi All!
My AR-DV1 should arrive tomorrow morning, I'm holding my breath.

I went to the Butel Software site and pre-ordered the software. This will be a new experience for me, I haven't used ARC before. My experience is only with Sentinel.

Now comes the million dollar question. Can someone walk me thru the procedure to download the software to the AR-DV1? I'm sorry to impose and ask for help, but this one has left me stranded.

Any help will be deeply appreciated.

Thank you.

Dave,
As you know, this AR-DV1 software is not available yet. However, I have many ARC Butel programs for my other scanners. Each is downloaded and run on your computer, then you have to connect the radio/scanner to your computer and download and upload the files to the scanner. I assume it will be the same with AR-DV1. Once the software is available, I presume several of us can walk through it together.
I will be interested in your experience with the AR-DV1. I have been using it the last couple of days to monitor NXDN and DMR, and it sounds pretty good. I would recommend an external speaker.

I think I'm going tp wait on the Butel Software where I can control the scanner. Hopefully it will be easier to open and close banks as needed. Also hope the software can speed up the scan rate of the digital channels.
