I am thinking of purchasing this for my 296D. I noticed on scannermaster.com that I can purchase this for 69.99, American deniros I presume. I also notcied that you can buy it two ways, software and a download. I was wondering if this software is worth the $? I have the Uniden software right now. Do you guys who have the 250/296, etc... use this software. Is this a good price?

Pls respond

...And if I choose to buy the download as opposed to waiting for it to be shipped can I burn it onto a cd in case my 'puter goes belly up?

I oredered from Scannermaster and received the CD in a couple of days. I don't know if you can burn the download. Either way you can't go wrong using this software, it's a piece of cake to use. Just order the CD and wait for it, you wont be disappointed.

I got my ARC250PRO software from Scanmaster by calling the 1-800 number and downloading the program from their site, then I paid by credit card and within an hour they sent me my KEY by email in Fort Eire Ont.

Thanks Steve: Would u recommend the pro or basic? All I want to do is make files for my 296 and nothing more. No fancy stuff.

Hi Eric, I would go to the butel web site and take a look at what the difference is between the two, Basic and Pro they show you line by line on the web site what the difference is and then choose, here is the site

Hope this helps

You will most certainly be able to burn the software to CD.

When you download almost any software you end up with an expandable (executable) installation file sitting on your desktop (or whatever directory you pointed the download to).

Before clicking on the "installer file" to instal the software you can copy that to CD or wherever you want. Even after installing the software the downloaded package should still be on your desktop.

Also...... either before or after installing the software, copy the download to a separate directory (folder) named ARCpro or whatever so that you can re-instal it if ever necessary.

Software never downloads and self-extracts itself at the same time so you will definitely be able to burn the download to cd for future use.

Hey Eric

I use the basic all the time, what a breeze. I actually ordered my BC785( 1 out of the 5 he had left) on Tuesday and received it from Scannermaster on Thursday, so they are amazing to deal with and very fast. I talked to Rich Barnett and he's great, BEST service I ever got from a scanner dealer.

Back to the software. So I plugged in the BC785 to the computer and the hole thing was programmed in 2 minutes so it is worth the price for sure!

Take care

Thanks to all who helped me on here. I called them up at 3:30 on Friday and by 5 or so I had the download on my desktop. Now I am gonna reconfigure my banks,I see some towers have added some towers already.
I am very impressed with scanner master, the guy I spoke to was a nice guy.
