It's not really being declassified. It's really just an acknowledgement that it exists, a fact that get's more ridiculous to deny.

To be more accurate, it's the tv program's hyped up name for the TV show to make it sound more revealing than it really is...no real news in the TV program...

My wife and I went to Arizona for Christmas as most of her family is there. We returned via U.S. 93 - U.S. 95 up to the Lida Pass - Westguard Pass route. At Death Valley Junction we took a bathroom break in the store/gas station and it seemed like half the merchandise or more had to do with Area 51. I know that this location gets far more traffic than Rachel, but it is located on the west central portion of the test site, a long ways from Area 51. It would seem that claiming some type of fame from Area 51 when it is located so far from it is a bit disingenuous.

I looked for the "Groom Lake Yacht Club" T shirt, but I think some type of organization has a copyright on it even though they haven't printed them for many years. I wish they would license the copyright so the shirts could be available again.

That area is an entrance for NTS workers. I doubt anyone go to area 51 from that location, though once you are on the NTS, gate 700 leads to Groom Lake.

If you spotted an air plane crash just north of Beatty, well I'll let you research that one... But there is a reason the crash is near Angels.

I believe it is possible to drive from Lathrop Wells all the way thru 51 and even the AF range, but may roads on the northern part of NTS are hot and people don't go thru there very often.

It would be far easier to drive to the Mercury gate then enter Groom Lake from gate 700. Might as well drive south on pavement instead of dirt. This save having to contact "bird dog" numerous times.
