Arlington Heights

Does anyone know if the Arlington Heights Police, Fire, City ops. etc. is on the Cook County 800mhz or the Schamburg 800mhz system?

What system or frequencies are they on?

I'm doing research for an aunt who wants to buy a scanner, she dosen't want to listen to Chico, but she does want to listen to Ar Heights and Hoff Estates and Schamburg, so I assumed the responsibility of figuring out whether to get her a trunktracker type scanner or to get her a Radio Shack Conventional one.

Arlington Heights is on the Northwest Central Dispatch system, along with Elk Grove, Mt. Prospect, Buffalo Grove, Palatine and Prospect Hts. It is a digital Motorola 3600 baud system, detailed in the attached CARMA profile.

You will need a digital scanner, such as a BC250, BC296, BC785, BC796, or Pro96 to monitor it.
