MOoooore POWER.....
a little mOOORe pOWer...

Plus I think one of the Officers uses "MO" as a callsign, if you got to the official website and listen you'll hear it -- http://www.blueangels.navy.mil/index.htm "Boss this is MO, updated winds are 240 at 10, we own the airfield and the airspace... "

I have Drago flight
on 124.0 A/A in Baltimore
1-F-15
1-F-22 Raptor
1-F-4 Phantom
1-prop plane P-51 Mustang
Circiling around north of Baltimore Talking to some guy on the
ground by the name of Larry. Fly By at Preakness

I was at the Airshow and just got back home.
Saw the F-15,F-4 and the P-51 depart Andrews and disapeared for over
an hour..Guess they did do the Preakness.
HOVER 11 was callsign for F-22 and he must have come from Langley
and joined up with DRAGO flight and upon return to Andrews all
4 aircraft did the Heritage flyby... Got some great pics and will be working on them soon.

I just got in from the show myself.....will post freq's here in a bit...check back for edit.

Paul

OK...Here's what I was able to get: (via RS Pro-97)

Show Boss 125.3500 & 379.2000
Blue Angels 305.5000 & 142.6125
Snow Birds 272.1000 (these guys were unbelievably good, absolutely incredible!!!)
Heritage 123.15 & 136.575 & 376.025 (P-51, F-4, F-14, F-22(langley) The F-22 was SWEEEEET!!!)
Texan 127.1500
Tucker 122.9500
Andrews Tower 118.4000 (the usual) & 119.3000
Civilian Discreet (used by several performers) 122.8250

TG 03280 Ground - Show Control
TG 03888 Security
TG 01680 Flight Line and Refueling

I sat at the end of the Runway (1R) so signal stalker didn't produce as much as I would have liked. But since most of the acts were solo, there wasn't much talking going on (I scanned 118.0000-136.0000 on a second scanner)
The 117 Night Hawk took off from being a static display and did half a dozen fly-by's and photo ops then headed for PAX
The schedule on the website wasn't the order used, but the Snow Birds did go at noon and the Angels started their show at 3:30, and were in the air at about 4:00
I was unable to track down a freq for the Mig-17 / F-86 showdown but it was cool to watch.
Oh, and one of the 82nd Airborne knocked himself out on landing and had to be taken to PG Hospital.

A couple pics to follow

Caught photo of presets of UH-60 Homeland chopper at airshow...
We can probably fill in the blanks here...
Pilot says Coast guard taking over later this year..HE didn't seem
too enthusuastic about that.
I posted earlier this year that Atlantic City would be sending choppers to
Reagan so that must be it...

The Huntress freqs are blanked out, darn it - but it does confirm that we're in the NEADS sector. To be honest, I wasn't sure - we're not always considered a 'Northern' state.

Great pic! 73s Mike

Here is chopper itself.I notice a couple of the Homeland defense aircraft at show have 121.500
stenciled in plain sight for wayward Cessnas perhaps to see!

My favorite of show was Heritage flyby after Preakness flyover.
Jim Beasley who I have met several times is flying the P-51 which is actually his
fathers plane. He owns his own P-51 in D-Day Army Air Corp colors called "Frenesi".
Last I heard his P-51 was down at Jack Roush aviation getting engine work.
Flys out of Northeast Philly airport.
Too bad I had to downsize image here as new High Res Nikon camera worked well.

I posted this to Scan-DC last night, but I'll repost here...

Here's what I found from the airshow earlier today. Larry and others, feel free to pass this along to other lists, etc.

Andrews trunked system was analog, just as we thought. Here are some selected talkgroups used specifically for the show:

80 Public Affairs
3280 Unknown, maybe Security
3888 Security
4848 Medical Control
(Numerous other talkgroups active, some of which could have been used only for the show.)

Also, many of the people driving golf carts and doing escorts were using one of the new 380 MHz P25 trunked systems. This is the one with System ID of 17A, control channel of 385.2125. Talkgroup 23 was used for the escorts. There were a few other talkgroups active, but not much traffic noted on them. This system was very strong at Andrews, so probably originates from there. Maybe this will replace the 406 MHz analog system.

123.4250 monitored for the Lima Lima team. 122.8250 was monitored for another civilian performer (unknown which one). 125.3500 may also have been used for a performer.

As for the Blue Angels, here's what I monitored:

139.8125 [ CSQ] Ground Ops
142.6125 [ CSQ] Ground Ops
237.8000
284.2500
305.5000
346.5000

As you can probably tell, I didn't do much searching in the Mil Air band, but these previously-noted freqs were in use. I primarily concentrated on the land mobile side of things.

Anyway, hopefully this info will be helpful to people attending tomorrow.

Finally getting around to listening to my all-day recording from the 16th. I have Omaha-1 doing a radio check on Blue-1. I was scanning a bank of 100 channels and the one that seems the most likely to be Blue-1 is 282.425.

Kirk,

Hate to get off topic....but what camera were you using for the F-22 & BA shots? Amazing resolution for something zipping by @ a few hundred MPH! Thanks for posting.
