• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi,

I am a little confused on the notes found in the CPS_PAT_Mobile_R20.01.00.txt file located under the resource center.

- Windows 8 is supported in R19.01.00 CPS and higher.
- The vendor has phased out support for the parallel port adapter DS1410E. Therefore Motorola does not support the parallel port on Windows 7 or x64 bit machines or above.

am i right in assuming only windows 8 (or possible higher) will work with 32bit machines only ?

I have installed ASTRO25_Mobile_CPS_R20.01.00 no worries on my Windows 10 Machine, However the USB cable i am using (i assume is a official cable supplied by Motorola) dosnt seem to be detected.

Long story - I do IT for a large comms company that has access to Motorola online - they gave me the job of cleaning up some XTL2500s wiping them clean.

They all went on holiday and left me to it. haha I love americans haha

so perhaps a link to some info on a clean wipe also would be great..

But i do have access to plenty of videos and docs so i can work it out.

Can't help you with regards to the parallel port adapter, but I can tell you that Astro 25 CPS R20.01.00 runs just fine for me on Windows 10 64-bit off my Mictosoft Surface. I am however using the portable version with a XTS 5000 as opposed to the mobile version, but I cant imagine they're that different. I also use an aftermarket serial program cable, and a Dynex USB to serial adapter.

For what it's worth though, I also have an older Dell laptop that I use for programming, one with a on board serial port as the older Motorola radios, i.e. my XTS 3000, wont work with the USB to serial adapter. Its Dell Latitude D620, cost to me recently was $20, a new battery and HDD cover brought the total to $34. Definitely worth the investment.

Both the mobile and the portable CPS work fine on Windows 10 32/64 bit OS. It helps to get a DB9 to USB adapter, for programming.

I now know why this job was given to me... I have to make a god dam blank codeplug..

I am assuming Motorola forced this to prevent people brinking there radios..

I am hoping once ive cleared out all this stuff i can save it and use it to wipe the rest of them (same model radios)

Where is the OTAP options for this ? ive cleared most of the data, but its still coming up as writable on radio manger.

I was thinking of using RM to write it and just clear the OTAP settings after ?

When I updated from 7 to 10 (64-bit to 64-bit), my Motorola genuine USB XTL programming cable was redetected and started showing up as a Serial Port instead of USB. So in CPS I had to select the Com port it was assigned.
In Windows 7, it showed as USB in CPS.

I would be interested in one of those XTL2500 radios if they are going to be for sale. Where are you located and what is going to happen to those radios???

Sorry, As far as i Know the whole radio system was sold including the radios, further more generally unwanted gear our company has is sold via some 3rd party as i think they have the contract - they do our cars, computers, radios etc.

If i wanted one for my own use - im sure i could arrange that, but on-selling it would be instant dismissal i would say, sorry.

i would not even know what they are worth ? they have all the extras ?

Well if you ever want one or two for yourself let me know please. Take a look over on Flebay and you would get an idea on pricing. Also just wondering where in this great country are you located? As for me I am in the Washington DC metro area where most systems are 700/800 phase 1 and phase 2 but also a few smartzone systems in the Shenandoah Valley and DE is one huge Smartzone system as well. Also in the valley they run UHF and VHF and VA has the Stars System connecting the whole state together on P1. Hmm if you worked for GSA providing radios or vehicle that would be an area that I would be interested in working as well.

I am in Hawaii, long way away from the main land lol.

head office is in LA, lots of fly in and out for work, but I picked up stumps and moved here.

I am IT, but have slowly moved over to radios, since we moved to Motorola turbo DMR and away from p25, I’ve become the main guy some how..our contractors got upset after we said no to some hundreds of thousands dollar quote for APX..

im not knocking apx either, they are a decent family of radios.. but we don’t need what they offer.
