• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Good afternoon everyone I have two Astro Spectra VHF 110 Watt model number T04KLH9PW7AN and I have programmed them both but I can receive but I cannot transmit I’ve tried several different mics, checked and checked programming information and the same result no transmit does anyone happen to have any ideas on what could be my issue

Do you have the orange wire connected to 12 volts?

The orange wire is the transmit control, similar to ignition switch control. 12v needs to be applied to the orange lead to permit transmitting.
Yes orange and green wire both connected to constant 12 volt, I’ve looked over the codeplug a bunch, tried several different mics and what baffles me is that it’s not just one radio it’s two different radios with the same issue

OK, that's a good start.

"two different radios with the same issue" is interesting. Did both these radios come from the same place? Any chance they were modified/damaged in the same way?

Maybe get someone else to look at your codeplug for the obvious and maybe not so obvious.

Is the power supply properly sized?

My memory if fuzzy, but I seem to recall something about the emergency footswitch wiring that can impact the ability to transmit.
I don't recall the programming for that, but maybe check the DB15 connector and confirm the pin 2 and pin 8 are jumpered.

But I could be wrong. Maybe someone with more Spectra experience can chime in.

Yes came from the same place and both radios are installed in two different vehicles and eBay seller who we bought the radios from said they worked prior to selling them.

On a high power, with a W9...I can't remember but generally Emergency should be jumped to ground on all Astro, Astro 25 and APX mobiles.

So this is the head I have is there something I need to modify because it’s been a very long time since I messed with the Astro’s I don’t remember everything and the emergency function is disabled in the programming because it’s not a function I need on this particular radio
