Athens-Clarke County is currently seeking approximately 15 million dollars from the proposed 2011 SPLOST funds to build a new 800Mhz digital radio system. The county has indicated they intend to stay with a Motorola system. Also there are rumors that all police traffic will be encrypted, although this is just talk.
