Today the Atlantic Air 1 Medevac had a NJSP Trunked radio installed at Mercer field in West Trenton . The crew came up on the Medevac ( Northstar ) Sub Fleet - ID as Atlantic Health Care 1 on Troop B. I think this helicopter is based out of Sussex County.

MONOC also has a helicopter has no radio data for them as of yet. I think this ship is located at Monmouth Airport.

If anyone else can shed some light on the new Medevac please keep us filled in.

MONOC MedEVAC 1 uses the MONOC frequencies. I forgot the location of it, DJ88 knows it.

Terry Hoben Cheif flight Nurse for the Northern Air Medical unit stated that both ships will be able to back up North and South Star. Seems like they will coordinate with REMCS up in newark on there responses which only makes sense on the NJSP 800 trunked network.
Nice to see we have two addtional medevac helicopters in the state.

I understand, that Atlantic Chopper is primary interfacility for thier internal use. I can't see them being around long. I would be surprised enough of that work is around. The overhead for a helicopter and flight crew 24/7 could choke a horse. The STAR's are free. I do not get it.

MONOC's chopper will be primary for interfacility flights between member hospitals and back up for trauma. Yes, it is stationed at Allaire (Monmouth) Airport in Wall and will begin flying March 1st.

From over in the NJEMS group, NorthSTAR & SouthSTAR get $3 per motor vehicle registration in NJ (to cover the aviation expenses) plus $1337 per patient (to cover the medical). Compare this to a $6000-$10000 bill if you use a commercial provider.

NorthSTAR Flights are free of charge, and have been for sometime. The medivac program is funded through registration fees and traffic tickets for certain offenses.

My mother-in-law was flown by SouthSTAR and the only bill she got was for the nurse and flight medic.

N314HP (Air 1) Atlantic's Medicvac is located in Netcong, and will be used as a backup only to NorthSTAR.

BTW, since this forum is related to scanning and radios and stuff like that...

Atlantic Air 1 is being paged out on Med 10 by CenCom, at least for on scene jobs. CenCom then instructs them to call REMCS on the State Police trunked system.

I have the NJSP Central Trunk System frequencies programed into my BC780xlt and I have Troop C - Central talkgroups programmed in as well as Aviation Unit - Medevac Ops South, and North talkgroups.

I don't hear much of SouthStar or NorthStar talking. Am I using the correct talkgroups on the correct frequency groups?

Would I need to program in the Northern and Southern Trunk System frequencies and realted talkgroups to be able to hear the Medevacs better???

Thanks!

You wouldn't be able to get the Northern or Southern (maybe) system from Jackson. The two MedEvac talkgroups are simulcasted on all of the 3 systems as long as a radio or console is tuned to the NorthSTAR or SouthSTAR talkgroup on the system you're trying to listen to. Landing Zone operations in Ocean County are on the South Jersey Fire-Net (154.2650 MHz, CSQ).
