A small area of Auburn's West Hill, formerly part of unicorperated King County officially became part of the city of Auburn starting January 1, 2008. Police operations were formerly dispatched through the King County Sherrif; now it'll be Auburn Police. The area was formerly served by South King Fire and was expected to continue to serve the area under contract; however, no official statements have been released to confirm or refute this. The KCPD Lake Dolloff storefront is located about a half block outside of the annexed area (this storefront is in the area Federal Way wanted to annex, but the annex was not approved by voters and thus remains in Unincorperated King County).

Anti-kudos to the city of Auburn for being very vague on their website about the whole annexation thing; there's no map and and a general lack of information.

Bottom line is that the Auburn PD talkgroup might get a little bit busier and the KCPD Southeast (Precinct 3) talkgroup might bet a tad bit slower.
