Audio is choppy on my 436. I don’t have priority or close call on. It’s only doing it on analog conventional channels. My nut for the antenna connector was loose but I tightened it up.

Interesting oh, sorry to hear about your issue. So a couple of questions. What nut did you tighten? Did you take the radio apart? What antenna are you using? Are you using the BNC adapter or do you have an SMA antenna? If you take the adapter off do you have play in the SMA connection? Does it shift?

Okay well even though you tightened the SMA connector so that there is no play or less play you may still have a poor connection of the antenna to the radio. The solder may have broken.

I've had my 436 since 2014 and really don't use it anymore so personally I would probably try to tinker with the radio by taking it apart and trying to repair it myself by soldering the connection. Don't know if you're going to want to do that or if you are on warranty but your radio might need repair from Uniden. I assume this is a change in reception to what it used to be and that the choppiness goes hand-in-hand with the loose SMA connection.

Lots of smart people here who are probably more familiar with this problem, let's hope they see our posts and have some suggestions how you might be able to repair it yourself, I can't imagine it would be that hard. ;)

Are you monitoring repeater outputs or base/mobile systems. If not using a repeater, you will have limited reception of mobile units, with a solid receive only if they are close to your location.. Set the squelch to the absolute minimum to quiet the noise. Try it with AGC on and off. Turn down Volume Offset on frequencies very loud. Audio may be overloading and distorting.

I’m going with the solder is broke or loose. As I’ve tried everything possible to fix the issue and still no luck.
