Audio quality on archives

Why do my broadcast archive audio files sound like they have like a 100ms or so slapback echo? Sounds very distorted. That makes the a lot less intelligible.

Could it be that silenced is removed from the archives?

It is definitely cause by the trim silence feature. I turned it off last night and the archived mp3's sound normal.
Can @blantonl or someone look in this?
Anyone else notice this?
