Do you think they're using LCRA towers, as well?

Russell

I know they aren't using the San Marcos Site (yet), I'm about 100 yards away from it.

I did notice awhile back that all the newer Hays County Chargers appear to have two antennas on them. One is the typical LCRA antenna on the trunk (typical of New B, HC/SM agencies and PEC). The second antenna is located on the roof, and is a silver metal one with a pigtail in it. Not typical of the LCRA TRS (I figured it might be for interop with A/TC- this might be the reason though).

On Site 7 I got:

SysID: 200 WACN:92571 Zone 107, Site 7 on 765.750

I'm going to retract this- they might very well be using this Site in San Marcos. I'll look into this more (though I haven't seen the techs there in about 3 weeks).

Lindsay,

From my front porch in San Marcos I'm getting:

765.75000MHz: SysID: 200 WACN:92571 Zone 107, Site 007 90-99% decode

773.84375MHz: SysID: 200 WACN:92571 Zone 107, Site 007 90-99% decode

The difference in these is: 8.09375MHz

Running Pro96Com on Site 007 right now. Incidentally from my front porch I have the anomaly seen in my post above. From the back of my house, closer to my computer and with an exterior antenna I cannot get a signal on 765.750MHz (suspected by me to be Site 007). However, I can receive the frequency Lindsay suggested for this Site 007 (773.84375) and am using it to decode data on Pro96Com. So the database reflects what I bet is the correct frequency. I'm wondering if this could be the Comal Site? I'll try another band search in downtown New Braunfels tomorrow, to see if I can get something stronger than Site 007 there.

It's showing a neighbor Site 106: 769.94375, though it does have a FAIL message, someone should be on the lookout for it soon.

This is looking more and more like the LCRA overlay, especially since ralexander has found what appears to be the "New Tatian" Site, which is located around Pierce, Texas.

ralexander that's a great document. It really gives us an update as to where the Texas Radio Coalition is taking us. I can't wait until the test of tests.

I think I have everybody's info in now. We're missing 3 and 5. Now we need to work on nailing down the locations.

Dallas proposed upgrade of an analog trunked 800 MHz communications system to include 700 MHz will provide interoperability to the Dallas public safety agencies as well as public works agencies. This system will serve a population of 1.25 million persons and provide communications for approximately 3,500 first responders and about 4,000 support and public works personnel. Dallas has set up some wireless video surveillance in a few areas; this may be expanded with available funding.
The goal for the UASI area is to have seamless interoperability among all Metroplex systems. There are 15 to 20 proprietary 800 MHz trunked systems in the area. A multi-phased approach is being considered, due to the high cost of implementing new systems in the UASI area. The project currently being evaluated is the installation of a 700 MHz P25 system overlay of the Region (3-6 channels) for agencies to roam outside their jurisdictional boundaries

I wonder if these are the missing sites?

From what I have read the D/FW area will be implementing its own, completely separate 700MHz system. One of these Sites is probably in New Braunfels, and I bet this TRS more focuses on the LCRA overlay (which has been predicted). These 13 sites will probably cover the I-35/I-10/Hwy 71 triangle (which LCRA is mainly centered on).

This is the LCRA 700Mhz overlay system being built with the PSIC grant funds as part of the State Agencies projects.

See the PSIC grant documents and the Texas SCIP plan at Region 49 -- Central Texas Planning & Review fro some info.

iI is a Harris/Macom/comNet/Ericsson/GE system using P-25 technology.

Suppose to all any P-25 trunking radio on it if valid ID, WACAN and correct control channels.

It will eventually connect Houston, SAT and AUS along I-10 / 290 / I35 for evacu and such.

Separate from the LCRA 900 system, they do not plan to connect them at this time.

Running Pro96Com on Site 1 tonight and I'm getting some different control channels on peer sites. I updated the DB. I notice that the DB lists Site 5 as "Near San Antonio" with a control freq of 769.20625. This is the same freq used by the Tx Warn Austin site 2-001. I hear it loud and clear and it's still reporting 1A7-BEE00. Seems like it might be kind of close to re-use the freq, but I guess we'll see.

Site 102 talkgroup

I heard the quickest snippet of digital voice testing on talkgroup 1067 on my way into Hays County this evening on Site 102. This was at about 5:50pm this afternoon. I will be running UniTrunker on this all night and tomorrow.

Here's some screenshots of UT, this being my only digital scanner (finally got paid for letting my friend borrow my Pro-96!), I might take the scanner off UT so I can get some usage context on these talkgroups. I'll submit the new frequency info to the database. Listen up if you're near these sites.

Testing

Hearing many 5-count testings on talkgroup 1001, Site 102. RID: 5123016.

Also, hearing testing of talkgroup 321, LCRA East Comm on LCRA Site 28.

Never hearing them at the same time (which is suspect I eventually will), but this is getting very cool...

I'm seeing TG 1001 and 1004 off Tower 101 in Austin. Updating DB with voice channels.

Testing across P25 (700 MHz) - EDACS (900 MHz) at this time on TG 1001. I didn't get the LCRA 900 talkgroup because I'm capturing the P25 side in UniTrunker right now, but they are clearly cross-band testing. Works pretty good - loud and clear in Austin.

Worked great here in Hays County also, cross-band testing talkgroup 1001 on the 700MHz site and talkgroup 321 on LCRA Site 28- San Marcos.

Russell, once they started this morning the extra voice freqs began popping up, 4 voice frequencies. Did you catch any new frequencies on 101?

Can't wait to hear more of this system.

Russell,

I also wanted to see if we were catching the same RadioIDs: 5123011 & 5123016.

Well, I think I have discovered the Comal County site of this system. It's system ID is 103-003 with a control channel of 769.20625. I'm running it on Unitrunker right now, and late as it is I'm not going to have any voice channels until at least tomorrow, if even then.

It is showing two peer sites, 104-004 (unknown) and 107-007 (North SA). I can pull the first site in with three bars on the S-Meter of my PSR-500 and the second site with one bar. The new 103-003 site is giving 5 bars which I am taking to mean that it is relatively nearby(I'm in south New Braunfels).

I knew we'd find one in New B...

I still don't think the San Marcos one is at the 900MHz EDACS Site though. At my house I can pull in the LCRA site at 99% with no antenna (I'm that close to the Site) but this 700MHz site isn't as strong so they seem to be at different locations.
