Hi

I recently picked up an Austin Condor antenna and am still getting use to its large design. Although I cannot make any claims yet about its efficiency I did have one immediate concern.

Do you think the flexible nature and the additional weight of this antenna causes wear to a scanner BNC connector?

Well if it is indeed top heavy then there is chance of BNC wear, but I wouldn't worry about it.I don't think they would make a handheld scanner so heavy as to cause BNC wear.

Probably have more wear putting on and removing then from weight. I had a 2-meter handheld that I used with a mobile antenna and wore the ears off of the radio's BNC.

A BNC connector just isn't the strongest type connector around. So, with reasonable care it should last longer than the radio will, maybe (who keeps the same radio for ever?).
