From the AWIN monthly newsletter:
Washington County will add four new 6-channel TDMA RF sites to AWIN, along with a merging of two 6-channel TDMA RF tower sites from the City of Springdale and three 6-channel TDMA sites from the City of Fayetteville, creating a robust 9-site TDMA simulcast system within Washington County. Infrastructure for the buildout has started arriving.
Benton County, which migrated to full-time AWIN in 2021, is adding multiple channels to their existing simulcast system to offset an increase of population, tourism, and radio traffic in the county.
Craighead County is adding additional talkgroups and radios to their existing AWIN portfolio to incorporate rural and volunteer fire departments not yet on AWIN. To offset this increase, the county is adding TDMA channels to three AWIN sites. Channel installations have been completed and they are currently awaiting clearance of a new frequency at the final site.
Saline County is adding a new AWIN site in Bauxite to enhance communications.
The City of West Memphis is joining the rest of Crittenden County as a full-time AWIN user. They are upgrading Crittenden County’s existing 3-channel AWIN site to 6 channels and building a second site to create a 2-site simulcast cell, which is a very welcome improvement to this busy region.
