So the Bamboozle is this weekend in Asbury Park and promises some busy radio traffic. The incident action plan is out and it looks like the UTAC channels will be busy.

UTAC 1-ASAP/Gator operations
UTAC 6S-EMS Operations
UTAC 22-NJEMSTF Command
UTAC 3-Logistics Backup
Monmouth EMS 3-Staging
JEMS 4-Medivac
TBD ITAC-Command backup
APPD2-PD Operations
SPEN 3- PD Ops backup

Bamboozle Festival in Asbury Park

Being that I live close to Asbury Park, I'll probably spend time this weekend listening to radio traffic associated w/ this 3-day concert event. (Plus, I'll probably be house-bound due to the anticipated traffic congestion here.)

Unfortunately, the Asbury Park & Ocean Twp. PDs are both encrypted. But I would think that additional law enforcement will be brought in for crowd control.

Any suggestions on which frequencies might be active for this event?

State Police should be present, and the itinerant frequencies for StrikeForce security.

So what is the frequency for APPD2 Operations since it is not in the database?

Just for the record, AP Police is licensed for 453.11250 (WQJY642), so that's probably it, but as Warren stated, encrypted.

Keep an ear on itinerant frequencies also. Not sure which radios the guys will be using, but it's StrikeForce security who is directly responsible for crowd control and security at the stages.

but as Warren stated, encrypted.

I was just wondering, if a frequency is encrypted do you hear anything such as static or is it "locked on" in a scanner like there is a transmission,
but you hear nothing, or it doesn't even lock on to the frequency and the scanner just keeps scanning?.

I'm asking because I know some of my towns detectives can go encrypted and I don't care, just wondering if it would cause dead air.

Asbury PD operates on a P25 Digital system with encryption. On a non digital capable scanner, digital transmissions will come over as static, because the scanner isn't capable of decoding digital. On a digital capable scanner, the encryption will sound kind of like space martians talking (the best way I can explain it) or you'll hear some other weird sound, depending on the type of encryption. Some of the newer Uniden scanners will automatically mute when encryption is present so you won't hear anything.

May hear some traffic on County Sheriff 4 (472.7125 PL 151.4). I just heard one of the Sheriff's officers tell county dispatch he was out at the boardwalk. (5:20 PM). Does anyone who has monitored this event in the past know if that's also active?

I have been hearing County SouthCOMM relaying calls to Bamboozle Command and stating if it was for medical or law enforcement on County Sheriff 4

Good post pdfdems286, as you have the tones being used with them, which are different than the tones listed for them in the Database here.

List was provided to me earlier today:

UTAC 1-ASAP/Gator operations
UTAC 6S-EMS Operations
UTAC 22-NJEMSTF Command
UTAC 3-Logistics Backup
Monmouth EMS 3-Staging
JEMS 4-Medivac
TBD ITAC-Command backup
APPD2-PD Operations
SPEN 3- PD Ops backup
County Sheriff 4 also in use (SouthCOMM to Bamboozle CMD)

Having trouble finding a few of them including the APPD 2-PD OPS because their regular frequency is encrypted.

Hearing what sounds like traffic for this event on B2-6 on the NJSP system.

are you sure it's from this event ?. i was unofficially told that only appd and the monmouth county sheriffs office were working the event with private security. my other question, why would they be on B ?. unless it's a special talkgroup simulcasted. is that the marine patrol talkgroup ?.
