Union County OEM is also down there with the EMS Gators and ASAP rig, and UMDNJ MCRU1 (University 110) as part of the EMS TF.

Asbury PD operates on a P25 Digital system with encryption. On a non digital capable scanner, digital transmissions will come over as static, because the scanner isn't capable of decoding digital. On a digital capable scanner, the encryption will sound kind of like space martians talking (the best way I can explain it) or you'll hear some other weird sound, depending on the type of encryption. Some of the newer Uniden scanners will automatically mute when encryption is present so you won't hear anything.

Thanks DJ
You answered my question for now and in the future when I get a digital scanner. Now I have to get a digital, I always wanted to hear "martians".
Now that must sound kool.:D
Thanks

are you sure it's from this event ?. i was unofficially told that only appd and the monmouth county sheriffs office were working the event with private security. my other question, why would they be on B ?. unless it's a special talkgroup simulcasted. is that the marine patrol talkgroup ?.

It might have been something at the meadowlands. Couldn't be sure.

Lots of medical events.

They also talked about "gates" and "trains".

A great site to hear the different types of radio sounds you aren't familiar with would be the W2SJW - Home site, which will help you identify some of the different "weird" sounds you hear out there.

Regarding the two tones used on the NJ UTac 6 channel, I've been hearing for the past year the 192.8 tone for large event coordination up North, and down in the Monmouth County area, the 203.5 tone used. Must be set up for inter-op purposes and for a reduction of interference issues as well.

So I'm not typically one to resurrect old threads, but I was not aware UTAC6NJ was used with a PL of 203.5 as well. I was not able to find it listed as such in the RRDB under NJ state or Monmouth county. Are there other known interoperability frequencies like this that use alternate PL/DPL/NAC? Is UTAC6NJ still used with this PL? Thanks.
