• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I bought a $35.00 radio to play with as a listing device only.
I'm not a licensed Ham so no transmitting for sure.
I have the factory cable to hook up USB to my computer and using T6UV Series EN CPS software.
I'm also using Com 2 which does start to talk to the radio, The radio shows the computer on the screen so I assume it's talking to the radio and when I try to do a read from the radio. It starts and then comes up with an error. No error code just error.
Anyone have any tips to possibly get this error resolved?
I appreciate any tips as this Baofeng is all new to me.

The cable is brand new and was part of the package I bought so I hope it's okay.
I'll look into other software.
Thanks for you suggestions.

Update, I found out that my program cable didn't seat all the wat into the radio.
Now that it's seated properly I'm able to read and write to the radio using T6UV Series EN CPS.
I wrote a new file to the radio and I get reception as the green receive light lights up and it stops on a know active frequency
I get no audio at all.
Attached is a couple of lines of what i programed.
Any advice as did I input something wrong to cause no audio.
This is all new to me so any suggestions are apricated.

As I just spent sometime with a new UV-6 maybe I can help! Check that your CTCSS codes are correct on receive…or eliminate them all together and see if that works! Had the same no audio gotcha until I checked the tones!

Well my tones were correct but I removed them all and Bingo!
Works like a charm.
Many thanks , I would have never thought the codes would stop audio from coming through.

Glad it’s working…in scanner type use I almost always turn off the codes! Makes thing simpler…the purpose of the code is to do what’s it’s doing! The transmitting station sends a sub-audible code that opens up the receiver! Keeps strange types of interference from opening up the receiver. As well different agencies could be on the same channel but with different tones. User A would only hear User A radios even though User B is also on there!

Thanks for the info. I used codes from my working TRX-1 that does decode correctly. So I thought they would be good on the new radio.
I took all of the DCS CTTS codes out and she is scanning away.
For $37.00 if fun to play with it.
