Just discovered DSD plus. In fact, I downloaded it today and sent $25 in for updates (and I see, less than six hours later, I have email from them, haven't opened it yet.)

I will probably be the only user who is not interested in decoding voice (at least right now), I am more interested in looking at the data that DMR and NEXEDGE Trunking control channels are sending. I am stopped at square one, I loaded the software and DLLs onto a Lenovo laptop. The software runs and I can see waveforms in the display if I speak near the PC's microphone.

Problem is, I do not understand how to tell the software to NOT listen to the built-in microphone, instead I want it to listen to the audio in on the headphone jack.

I should explain: I am using a receiver with discriminator output, I have it wired to a miniplug that is inserted into the headphone jack. I understand that the tip is 'mic in' (I may be incorrect here). But in any event, how do I get DSD+ to steer its 'ears' to the mic in?

THanks for any help,

You look at the list of audio input devices that DSD+ lists and you tell it to use the one that's got your discriminator audio.

Or you can just try all the choices (-i1, -i2, -i3, ...)

If you are running any Microsoft Windows version from XP forward you should be sure that microphone input is the default device. DSD+ always looks for the default input device. Nothing much to do here. Always will be the #1 device in the list of inputs and outputs when DSDPlus.exe is loaded.

No microphone input is listed, only the built in mic - this implies, to me, that there is no mic input on the one jack on the PC that is there.
I think a USB sound card may be the answer here. Fortunately, I live a few miles from a Fry's.

For when I get the USB card:
1) Where is the list?
2) HOW do I do that?

Keep in mind I am REALLY just getting started here, I haven't even figured out how to display the help files....

Glad it worked out. Your next step might be to consider using a USB SDR dongle. With that you will be able to do trunk tracking. I use 4 Nooelec NeSDR SMArt dongle on a hub and trunk track 4 different sites at once.

Baby steps - I'll get there.

Now to download and install the updates they sent... :)

Thanks all - lots to learn but learning is fun.
