Hello,

A few basic questions, please:
Have a SDS200

a. Am I correct that when selecting "ZIP/Servic", none of the Location, Range, etc. options
play any part ?
It's simply that whatever the radio picks up is locked on ? Or ?

Can I use Avoid in this mode ?

b. When the scanner locks onto some broadcast, and stays locked on it irrespective of the
Squelch setting, what's the easiest way to tell it to resume scanning ?

c. Similar question: when setting all the options called up by the the Function Knob, how do I resume scanning again ?

Thanks,
Bob

If you select the ZIP function that allows you to select the ZIP Code that becomes the center point of your listening location. That, combined with the Range setting creates a circle on a virtual map around that ZIP Code, everything within that circle and any database entry whose own circle crosses or touches your circle is selected as long as the Service Type is also turned on. If a GPS is used the GPS overrides other Location settings.

If you select the Service function you are able to select the Service Types you wish to monitor on the currently enabled databases.

Both of these functions depend on the currently selected database. This could be the Full Database or any Favorites Lists you may have set up.

Favorites Lists may be set up with a location and range setting, if so then they are subject to the Location set in the radio. The Location may be set by GPS or by selecting a ZIP code among other methods. If a Favorites List is not set to Location Control it is turned on and off with the Menu>Set Scan Selection>Select Lists to Monitor function.

Avoids can be used in just about any mode or with any monitored list or search. A single press avoids the channel until the radio is shut off, a double press avoids it permanently (but the Avoid can be removed by menu commands later).

If the scanner stops on a channel and you want it to resume you can rotate the big silver knob to make it resume scanning. This will not Avoid the channel but it will tell the scanner to resume scanning. If the channel is still active when it comes around to that channel again the scanner will stop again on it. You can also Avoid the channel if you chose, permanently or temporary.

When in the Menu system press the Menu button repeatedly to resume your scanning. It operates as a "Back" key.
