I just won a Radio Shack PRO-92 off of eBay, click here, and would like for someone to tell me the basics about programming and using this scanner. Thank you.

You can get the manual off the Radioshack website. Once on the homepage, click on product manuals.

Enjoy the 92, its an awesome scanner but for ONE draw back- Its slow scan rate.... It only scans at 25 chans per sec, where as most scanners do 50 per sec. Will have to compare the 92 side by side to the 97 as soon as the 97 is out in hands. :)

If you think the 92 is slow, you should watch my BC560XLT. It scans an entire bank in 1 sec.

...All 16 channels.

Oh no.. now you take me back to memmories of the old GRE/GE days of the 10, and 12 channel led flip switch scanners.....

You load crystals, flip a switch on each according to its designation- VHF Hi, Lo, UHF....

You then flipped a switch under each indicator to its desired position- L/O, Scan, Manual/Hold....

Then you enjoyed the light and sound show....

Thank God for advancements....

Now if someone would for those nostalgists out there.... Make a software for online scanners where you would see say- a row of pudy red lights as you listened????? Only have it scanning say a APCO-P-25 TRS???

My 16 channel Uniden Bearcat BC 175XL takes about 2-3 seconds to scan it's amazing 1 bank. Same with my PRO-24, though it might be slightly slower.

Reminds me of my Electra Bearcat IV.
