This weekend I was in Batesville, my first time back in nearly two years. I brought my BC125AT for monitoring the still largely analog systems in Independence County. Last I checked, Batesville PD was running voice inversion full time on its dispatch frequency of 155.940, and on its tactical frequency of 155.2575. Also they're licensed for NXDN digital so I though that maybe they had made that switchover.

So, I was surprised to hear nothing at all on their primary dispatch frequency of 155.940, other than the FCC-mandated Morse code channel IDing. For several hours I heard dispatching IN THE CLEAR on the "tactical" frequency of 155.2575. Hmmm... has there been a change of heart with regard to encryption? Are they using 155.940 now as a tactical frequency with voice inversion, like the SO does with its "channel 3" on 155.565?

What's going on? Anyone there know?
