I have Uniden BC-780 XLT and I am trying to program in a frequency of 154.1825 using the Butel 780 software. The software says the frequency is ok but the scanner rounds the frequency to 154.185 with 5.0 step and with 12.5 step rounds it to something else. Is there any way to get the BC-780xlt to take the new VHF frequency's?

Thanks, Jamie

Assuming the 780 is capable of 2.5khz splits (it's so old it might not be), your better bet is to do it by hand, or use ProScan software, which blows away ARC780 in functionality.

The other point here is that you should still be able to hear the freq programmed as 154.185, but the audio will be softer, and distortion would occur if the signal was weak. If it's strong, you may not notice it much if at all. 73 Mike

Check your frequency, I don't believe that is a valid one for that part of VHF Hi. 7.5 spacing (which the 780 will do) is:
154.1750
154.1825
154.1900

Must say that I agree that Proscan is waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy much better and need to add for who it concerns that ARC780 is not working with Vista (even in compatibility mode) unless using a Virtual PC in XP mode and of course Proscan is working on my Vista 64 bits PC..

The frequency and step programs in by hand (154.1825 step 7.5), the issue is with Butel software. If it is just the one frequency, program it in by hand.
Note: you need to change the step for that channel FIRST, then reprogram the frequency. Otherwise the scanner sees the step as 5 or 12.5 and keeps correcting you. I would guess the Butel software may have the same problem.

If you really need to use the software, try this:
setup, software options, bandplan.
uncheck all the boxes and try again.
Another work around would be to program the entire bank with a freq that has steps common to all the presets (5, 7.5, 12.5, 25) with the step you choose. Example 154.4000 step 7.5 Then when you over write it, the step is already at 7.5 and the freq should go in OK.

I stopped using ARC products because of too many issues on too many products. I liked them but too frustrating.

The ARC780 yahoo group had several discussions on this.

Stop the scanner on the channel you are programming the freq in, then hit

MENU - 2 - E - 6 - 2 - MENU - MENU - MENU - 154.1825 - E
