I have two BC-780 scanners I haven't used for years. They were programmed with Butel software on an old computer using (I think an old version of Windows). Is there anything currently available to program with my current computer using Windows 11?

Ok, I have the radio connected to the computer and seeing the display on the computer. I'm struggling to figure out where the file should open in order to download the memory into the computer. When I attempt to create a new file, it gives me the choice of opening it or closing it. I don't see the choice to 'Ok' the file. Is the new file I'm creating in the Pro Scan program or in the Documents folder?

I really appreciate the help I'm getting here. Thanks!

Let's keep the conversation here so It will be less confusing. It looks like you got passed a certain step but the post here is a little different

Per your email
I've looked at the manual but it leaves me where I click on Menu - Database - New. I get a new file that I name but I'm unable to figure out how to download the memory in the radio before I attempt to create a new data set for the radio. Help!

Click on the Download button shown in this image

To confirm: Here is how to open a database from https://www.proscan.org/ProScan_Manual.pdf
Are you getting an error message?
No error message. It just opens a new window but won't let me do anything. The window shows 'Save' or 'Cancel'. If I click on Download or anything else the open box flickers but won't let me do anything else.

When I click on Database - Download I get a pop up window that says a No Data Base File Is Open. Click on Database - New or Open. The new window flickers and won't let me do anything else.

This is saying you don't have a database file open. Go to the Menu --> Database --> New
Then type in a name, then click the Save button.

I have followed the instructions above, the radio is in Remote mode, I'm a Premium subscriber, I click on Database, it gives me a choice of New or Open, I try to open a file I've created and it won't let me go any farther. Ideas?

Can you provide a screenshot after you opened the file like in this image.

I can't seem to do a screen capture. The screen I'm seeing is identical to what you have but there's nothing below the line Channels - Bank 1. It does have the line below it, Channel, Frequency, etc but there's nothing below it. That box is blank.

A picture is like a thousand words so I would lean how to do screenshots. Google it.
It sounds like you don't have a file opened. See post #25 and try opening a new file again.

Good info. You do not have a database file open.
See post #25 and Follow the instructions exactly.

Start with the Database menu pulldown in the upper left corner
Go to the Menu : Database --> New
Then type in a name, then click the Save button.
This will create and open a new database file.

Here's what I've got. My choice is to save it, not open it.
My Windows version(Win 11) shows "Save" and not "Open". The title "New ProScan Database File" is correct so it looks like you're in the right area.
In the "File name:" box, type in a name then click on Open.

What Windows version are you using?
