Hello All,
Just received this scanner as a gift. It has the P25 card installed. When programming trunked, it asks what type. I’m looking at my frequency chart and it shows Palmetto P25 Phase 1. That is not an option in my trunking types.
my question is what type would that be.TrunkingType
Motorola Type 2 800 MHz
Motorola Type 1
Motorola Type 2 900 MHz
Motorola Type 2 UHF
Motorola Type 2 VHF
EDACS Wideband 9600 baud
EDACS Narrowband 4800 baud
EDACS SCAT
LTR
Thanks in advance

The BC785D does not support rebanding so it is not gonna trunk anything, digital or analog, in the 800 Mhz band

Great analog scanner and with the card will also scan conventional P25 channels

As I remember (and looking at the specs), the 785 only decoded the original 3600 baud digital trunking systems. It did not support 9600 Phase 1 systems - even if you had the card.

The 796 provided the ability to have 9600 baud digital tracking.

What RBMTS says is correct. You can monitor p25 conventional or digital talk groups on a APCO 16 system, but it lacks the ability to read the 9600 baud rate of a p25 trunk systems.

I may just keep this one
ScanControl demo software supports programming and control & monitoring of BC785D, IIRC it's unlimited use - RS232/USBAdapter needed Win10 (?). The card is the real prize - very pricey.

Thanks. The last time that I did anything with scanners is when you used to go to radio shack and purchase crystals.
Thanks again everyone for the tips.

I may just keep this one and just get another scanner that will work.

If you plan on keeping the scanner and using it for conventional analog, then by all means sell the BCi25D card. It still has value for those that monitor P25 conventional.
