I've seen some complaints around about the audio on the 796D. I have a 780XLT, and I like it fine in my truck with the motorola speaker. If I got a 796D would be a replacement for that. Any opinions on the audio quality of the 796D and how it compares to the 780? Thanks!

I own both a 780 and a 796, and I have no complaints about either when used with an external speaker.

I put my 796 in my truck and it sounds fine even at highway speed. I have clipped the rubber gasket inside the speaker mount, though. (Warranties be damned! )

Thanks guys, thats kinda what I figured, but good to have the feedback. I just got an 898T but thinking seriously about sending it back to the dealer as trade-in for a 796D. I want a digital mobile, and might as well get full value out of the 898T and get something I would prefer than pay the restocking fee for just returning the unit.
