I've got a 2004 GMC Sierra that I just picked up. The back window is tinted and has defrost lines in the glass. Would a glass mount work on this truck or would the tint and defrost impead the signal. Am I better off just going with a mag mount? I'm not able to drill a hole for a NMO mount, just had hand surgery. Thanks in advance.

It depends on the tinting. If there is any metallic component, then it'll be problematic with the through glass mount.

Permanent mount is going to be ideal, but if that is temporarily out of the question, a mag mount would be the better short term option.

I has a soft top on my '03 2-door TJ. I mounted a thru-the-glass 2m/440 antenna on fhe windshield with good results. It was a small windshield so to find the optimum spot I first sprayed water on the windshield and then ran the wipers to find a spot the wipers missed and was not in my line of vision. I will do the same on my '23 JL...if I ever get around to installing a radio in that vehicle.

As silly as it seems, this works great for my needs, monitoring KSICS:

I use a Metal binder clip on my rear speakers' vent with a Wilson mini antenna
