While working with our new scanner, we somehow stumbled along and inadvertantly locked everything. Following the instructions in the manual have proven to be unhelpful as all steps have not allowed us to remove the screen showing: Scan Mode, All Locked!. When we "F" and so to any of the particular systems, we cannot unlock any sysytem even though all menus we try to look at inform us that no frequencies, groups, or systems are actually locked!

It's late and we're most likely tired and cranky, but can someone please give us a hand (we've been struggling with this for about an hour now and have combed the book and these message boards twice.)?

Thanks in advance

If the systems are not locked out, maybe you assigned them to a system quick key that is not enabled. Solution: Enable some SQKs by pressing the corresponding numbers.

OR, maybe all the Group Quick Keys are disables in the enabled systems. Solution: Press the corresponding numbers while holding the F key.

If you can't get into scan mode, you may have to enable the first one via the menu.

I'm going on the assumption that by saying "new" scanner you just got it tonight perhaps? Is there actual data already programmed into the scanner, i.e. system data, group data, control channel freqs, talkgroup IDs, etc etc.

If nothing else, a reset to factory specs would be warranted but only as the last possible resort so you don't lose the work you've put into the scanner so far.

I think the advice Voyager gave is definitely the way to go. When I first got my 246T last week I had the same issue once or twice before realizing what I had done: I had created a system with groups/etc, then I assigned a SQK to the 1 key - and I pressed 1 twice quickly at some point. Doing that caused it to jump to the second system which of course wasn't programmed, hence the Scan Mode, All Locked! message. Pressing 1 again brought it back to the primary system using the 1 key as it's Quick Key.

If nothing else helps, try pressing the number keys one at a time but do it twice in succession for each possible system you may have programmed in, i.e. 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, etc. Maybe that will help to get you back to the primary level of systems.

Hope this helps...

Gentlemen! Thanks so much! Apparently I had it assigned to quick Key grouping on 9 so WHAM it ended up Scan Lock!!

Fixed now and experience is the best teacher - never do that again!

The all locked up problem happened to me recently. I have no idea how it got in that mode. I am fairly familiar with the 246T operation and tried everything I could think of in and out of the manual to no avail. I finally just uploaded everything to the scanner again. I should have downloaded the state that it was in to see if there were any clues I guess. It hasn't happened since.
