I am scanning Howard County, MD's trunked system (Motorola Type II ASTRO VSELP system). I have entered all frequencies and talkgroup ID numbers. The scanner works properly but will not display the talkgroup ID numbers and alpha tags, even when I specify 'Ready to ID Scan'. :(

I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to get the talkgroups to display properly. Thanks :eek:

In correctly programmed ID SCAN mode, when the scanner stops on conversation;
Line1=MX-X:XXXXX
Line2=current voice freq
Line3=ID Alpha Tag
Line4=Scan List Alpha Tag

Note, the X's in line 1 are as follows:
M=Motorola
X=Scan list
-X=ID number slot in Scan List
XXXXX=ID (could also be XX or XXX or XXXX)

ID SEARCH Mode
Line1=M ID:XXXXX (M and X is same as above)
Line2=Current voice freq
Line3=Bank 1234567890 or any combination of (at least one number must be present or the scanner will select bank 1)
Line4=Bank Alpha Tag

Edit added: If any unlocked Conventional freqs are in the same bank, the display will flip flop between SCAN/SEARCH and scanning of the conventionals.

Motorola VSELP

I don't think you can monitor that kind of a digital system
