GRECOM PSR-800 EZ SCAN Digital
Handheld Trunking Scanner
Computer Programming System
Release Notes
Version 1.09 - July 15, 2015

Bug Fixes:

Corrected an issue where importing a rebanded Motorola trunked system using the City, County, or Zipcode method would not set the site trunking mode to Custom.

Version 1.08 - January 15, 2013
New Features:

Fixed issue in library import where some Motorola talkgroups would be displayed as Motorola Type I style talkgroups even when the system was Type II.

Added support for P25 Phase 2 trunking table settings for CPU Version 1.8.

Added option on the Audio Tab to read and playback the audio files that have been copied to the computer's hard drive.

Bug Fixes:

Fixed a delete process bug when deleting multiple objects from the conventional channels tab.

Version 1.06 - July 25, 2012
New Features:

Added options to the file menu to save the currently selected configuration to a ZIP archive and a second option to restore a configuration from a zip archive.

Notes:
The archive function will default to using the My Documents folder to save the archive file.
The archive function will provide a default ZIP file name based on the current configuration folder, the current date, and the current time.
The restore function will verify the existance of specific common files in the ZIP archive before allowing it to be used to restore the configuration.
The restore function will erase the current contents of the selected configuration folder before extracting the contents of the ZIP archive.

Adjusted the default battery meter values for NiMH batteries to the values below. If the V-Scanner folder being opened has the default values from previous versions, the application will set the values in that configuration to these defaults.

Bars Voltage
14 Bars 4.80v
12 Bars 4.70v
10 Bars 4.60v
8 Bars 4.50v
6 Bars 4.40v
4 Bars 4.30v
2 Bars 4.20v
0 Bars 4.10v
Alert 4.08v

Added pop-up menu to set default battery meter values on the voltage set list.

Moved the Set Location option to the general settings tab to make room for new options on the advanced options tab.

Added option to the advanced options tab to allow the scanner to stop on encrypted talkgroups on Motorola systems.

Please note: While the scanner will stop on these talkgroups, it will not decrypt the audio data. Encryption action settings will be used on Encrypted talkgroups.

Added option to the advanced options tab to allow the scanner to stop on digital/encrypted transmissions on EDACS systems.

Please note: While the scanner will stop on these talkgroups, it will not decode the audio of ProVoice systems.

If CPU firmware has been installed on the scanner, the radio will be automatically powered off and on as needed for configuration, Library, and firmware updates where possible. CPU firmware updates will still require manual intervention to place the scanner in update mode.

Added support for automatic update checking for the PC Application, CPU firmware, DSP firmware, Library database and Location Database. The feature may be disabled or modified using the option found under the PC Application's Update menu.

Note: For the CPU and DSP firmware update checks to be accurate, the scanner must be connected to the computer and turned on. If the scanner is not connected the last update version will be used for the check. If that is not available, a default of 1.0 will be used for both.

Added option to support the new firmware mode for Scan Sets. This option will change how Scan Sets interact with the master Scan List enabled flags. By default, an object must be a member of an enabled scan list, and the scanlist must be a member of an enabled scan set to be scanned. The new mode will cause the scan set options to override the master scan list enabled flags. An object will be scanned if it is a member of a scan list that is a member of an enabled scan set. The settings on the general tab for scan list enabled will be ignored.

Added the Radio ID column to the audio file listing.

Updated copyright notices to include the year 2012.

The CCDump log count is now configurable. Available choices are 100, 200, 500 or 1000. This option is located on the Advanced Options screen in the CC Dump area.

Note: Using a setting of 1000 can overwhelm a 2GB Micro SD card pretty quickly if most of your scanning is done on trunked systems.

Bug Fixes:

Fixed an obscure bug in the Set Location code that prevented the import of some channels.

Made changes to the conventional delete process from the conventional tab that dramatically reduces the time needed to delete multiple conventional objects.

Corrected an issue creating the Radio ID data file when importing a P25 trunked system using the standard import option. The PC Application will rebuild the file indexes when the files are opened.

Fixed issue when updating the DSP firmware when connecting to the Internet through a proxy server

Corrected a display issue with some Motorola system sub-types on the site list.

Corrected import issue with P25 systems that are marked as Phase-II in the library database. This issue was only present when using the Set-Location import method. The standard import method would allow these systems to be imported.

Corrected an issue with the import screen not being properly refreshed when creating a new V-Scanner folder, or when deleting a V-Scanner folder when it was the currently selected folder.

Version 1.05 - January 9, 2012
New Features:

Added battery level and alert voltage settings to the Advanced tab. Voltage levels will be updated to the default settings the first time a configuration is opened.

The USA bandplan has been adjusted to allow access to Marine channels while preserving access to other frequencies in the same range.

Updated the error message displayed when there is no data to import in the Library database (i.e. Puerto Rico)

Added pop-up welcome screens at program start-up and after a successful CPU update to introduce the set location feature.

Changed the alert type selection to be a pull-down selection rather than a click and cycle through selection.

Bug Fixes:

Fixed import issue with systems marked as P25 Phase II in the Library data.

When selecting the option to update the objects in the scanner configuration after a Library update, the correct screen will now be shown.

Version 1.04 - CD-ROM Release only
New Features:

This version of the software supports import via the same set location code used in the scanner. When the Location database files are installed, the Location Select option is turned on, and the country band plan is set to USA, selecting the import tab will display the set location import screen.

Update installer contains Location database files and will install them on your computer. These updated files will then need to be copied to the SD card in the scanner using the Copy Library to Scanner/SD Card option in the application for the scanner to use them.

The check for Library updates option will now also check for updates to the Location database files and download them if needed.

Option added to the Advanced page to enable or disable the new Location Select firmware option.

When the Location Select option is turned on, the last 50 scanlists (151-200) are reserved for the defined service tags from the RadioReference web service. Any existing alpha tags will be preserved in case the option is later turned off.

The copy library files to Scanner/SD Card option and the prepare SD Card for use functions will copy the standard library files and the Location database files if needed.

Installer includes updated PSR-800 User Manual and Quick Start Guides in both English and French.

When loading a configuration, if the country band plan has not been set, the application will prompt for the correct band plan.

Made a change to the selection code in all of the list screens. If a line is clicked that has not been selected previously, the first click will no longer cause the edit boxes to appear. This means that it is no longer a requirement to click in the far left column of the list to select a row.

Added option to rebuild the audio file index from the SD card. Note this is simply a directory check, no file information is read into the program by this process.

Added a site check when importing a new trunked system. New systems with no site selected will not be imported and a warning message will be displayed.

Bug Fixes:

Fixed import issue with systems marked as P25 Phase II in the Library data.

Added some checks for player status with some of the buttons on the Audio tab. This should resolve some of the MCI error messages.

Fixed Play Button error when playback is paused.

Fixed text on the optimize process screen to include all of the informational text.

Fixed issue with library update freezing after the files have been extracted.

Fixed issue with the application not reloading the location database information after an update. (Previous required a restart to reload the data).

Fixed issue with progress bar when downloading PC Application updates.

Fixed issue that caused an access error on some systems when updating CPU Firmware.

Fixed issue where re-ordered LCN frequencies were not being saved under certain cases.

Fixed issue where the LED color list would not be populated when loading preset files.

Version 1.03 - May 24, 2011
New Features:

The USA bandplan has been adjusted as follows:

Previous Band Plan:
154.650000 – 156.255000 MHz, 7.500 kHz steps
156.275000 – 157.450000 MHz, 25.000 kHz steps

New Band Plan:
154.650000 – 156.045000 MHz, 7.500 kHz steps
156.050000 – 157.450000 MHz, 25.000 kHz steps

This change resolves an issue with marine band channel 1 (156.050000) and 5 (156.250000) not falling into the scanner's bandplan.

Reorganized the Audio Recordings page with the recording data at the top, and more room for fields in the recording list.

Rebuilt the recording list on the Audio tab to gain consistency with the rest of the application.

Added new keyboard sequences and functions to the audio file list as follows:

Up Arrow: When a single audio file is selected, will move the selection up one line.

Down Arrow: When a single audio file is selected, will move the selection down one line.

Enter Key: Start playing all selected audio files (same as clicking on the play button.)

Esc Key: Deselect all selected audio files.

Added cancel button to the progress bar when reading the audio file data from the SD card. If the process is cancelled early, the file listing will be a partial listing.

Added Move option to the audio recording tab. This option will perform the copy to computer function after which all files that have been sucessfully copied will be deleted from the SD card.

This version provides much more control over the import process by way of an Import Settings button. This will provide all of the previous settings on the import process, and adds some new controls.

The import options screen also allow you to set the options you select to be the new default settings.

When started, the EZ Scan Digital PC Application will attempt to determine if the drive it is run from is a USB device (i.e. Flash drive or external hard drive) and adjust the data path accordingly. This will allow you to take your data on a portable drive and use it in any computer.

Note that in order to copy files to the SD card via the USB cable to the scanner, you will need to install the serial port driver on the machine you are using.

To use this feature, copy the contents of the program folder (typically C:\Program files\GRECOM\EZ Scan Digital) to your USB device, and then copy the EZ Scan Digital folder from your My Documents folder into the same folder where you placed the program.

When using the Prepare card for use function from the SD Card menu, the list of audio files on the audio tab will be cleared since those files will be deleted during the SD card format.

Added two options to the Trunked System Line 5 display settings. These options allow you to see only the radio ID alpha tag (if it exists) instead of the previous Alpha Tag/Radio ID alternating (CPU Firmware U1.2 or later required).

Added option to enable flexible frequency entry (FlexStep)

Added option to change the order of trunked system sites to the trunked system tab. This option is only available on systems with two or more sites.

Added compress buttons to the Talkgroup and Radio ID sub-tabs on the Trunked tab. This option will remove unused space in the data files for the currently selected system. The recovered space depends on the number of ID of the objects that have been deleted from that data file.

Added select all and Clear All buttons to the scanlist selection area on the import screen.

When adding new talkgroups or radio IDs from the trunked systems tab, if the default "New Talkgroup" alpha tag has not been changed, it will be changed to match the talkgroup ID or radio ID entered.

When performing a DSP Firmware update, the PC Application will now check to ensure the scanner is not in CPU Firmware update mode and will notify the user to press the MENU key to turn the scanner off if it is. This prevents the accidental erase of the CPU firmware from the scanner.

Bug Fixes:

Fixed an issue where the first run screen suggesting viewing the help file would appear multiple times when the CDAT folder did not exist at program startup. Subsequent instances of the PC Application would not see this issue.

Fixed issue where the bottom of the scanlist page would not expand to fill the empty space when the PC Application is made larger.

Corrected an issue while saving information about a trunked system that could lead to data loss.

Fixed a display issue with delay time when sorting the talkgroup or radio ID listings on the Trunked Systems Tab and the delay time for an object is set higher than 25.5 seconds.

Fixed frequency entry issue when adding new conventional objects through the scanlist tab.

Fixed issue with entering frequencies when the bandplan setting was set to "Default".

Fixed positioning of the Trunked System Duplicate button when the application was increased in size.

Fixed issue that would not allow the PSR-800 PC Application run at the same time as the PSR-700 PC Application.

Version 1.02 - March 4, 2011
New Features:

Installer includes updated manual.

Added option to the trunked systems tab to duplicate a trunked system. When duplicated, all settings for the original are copied to the new system.

Added option to store and load Backlight/LED presets. On first run, the app will create the preset files listed in the manual.

New configurations will now have the Country Bandplan set to "Default".

When copying data to the SD card, the default will now be to copy all files. Previously the default was to copy only those files that had changed.

Bug Fixes:

Fix to the enumerate talkgroups/radio IDs which can cause software lockups, especially while rebuilding scanlist files.

Fix to setting the country bandplan not working correctly.

Fixed issue with the Radio ID data files not being reset when switching to or from Project25.

Version 1.01 - February 10, 2011
New Features:

Double clicking on a V-Scanner folder in the selection screen will now load that folder without the need to click on the Select button.

When moving a frequency position within a trunked radio system site, where the move up or down would scroll off the list, the list will now be scrolled as needed to keep the frequency being moved visible on the screen.

Bug Fixes:

Fixed the CC Dump setting not remembering when set to use a file for the data.

Fixed DSP update issue under certain circumstances.

Fixed issue with updating the delay settings on conventional objects.

Fixed display issue on the Scanlist screen where the delay On/Off setting was not being properly shown. The Scanlist screen would always show a delay time, even when the delay was disabled.

Fixed the insert and remove Micro-SD card sections of the help file to describe the process for this model.

Fixed issue with selection of systems with no monitorable talkgroup objects.
